Access Connections 5.61: Doesn't Remember Saved Ports for 2 different LANs

2010-05-03, 14:29 PM
To Lenovo, Access Connections v5.61 does not remember saved ethernet ports for 2 different LANs. When I switch (one branch office, one home) between the two LANs, the saved port for the other LAN is lost. Setup: LAN 1 -- small office: Dlink router IP Address Scheme: 192.168.1.XXX LAN 2 - Home office Linksys router IP Address Scheme: 92.168.1.XXX Computer: Windows 7 x64bit Access Connection v5.61 Latest Lenovo Bios (1..13) + all thinkvantage updates This same problem has appeared in all Access Connection versions since I upgraded to Windows 7 x64bit from Windows XP.

Hi,

try to create two independed profiles for each of the LAN connections.

Once this is done, make sure, that the Locaiton switching is activated and test the situation again.

Can you please also tell me the version of following applications (I just want to be sure, as till not I have not seen this with the latest build of AC )

Power Manager

Power Management driver

System interface driver

Hotkey utility

 Cheers

Hi,
thanks for the post.
I think, I might know, what might be the root cause.
First of all, please apologize my previous post, I have overlook the system, that you are using.
In this situation, as you are using the 5.61 version of Access Connection, this version no longer supports the T4x series.

I would advice to uninstall the Access Connection 5.61 version, that you are using and install the 5.00 version, which is, as far as I know, the last one, that is suporting also T41p systems.
You can download it here:
http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/7vcx32ww.exe
and here are the release notes:
http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/7vcx32ww.txt

Please fully uninstall the currently installed version and install this version and let me know, if this wored for you.
I assume, there were couple components removed and thus is there no longer support for this older models.

Let me know your results as I would like to know, what is the outcomme, so that I can optionaly report this to future places.

Cheers

Herik, I'm now on a T400s so I'm using the correct version of AC. Any other thoughts? Cheers, RocketDude

Hi,

ok, now I'm confused. Previously I saw, that you are usein the T41p.

Ok, so let's summarize:
- you are using the latest version of all the drivers and apps + AC 5.61

- your system is T400sWin7 x64Bit

- you are using two independent LAN profiles

- Location switching is enaled and the LAN Wired connection is enabled in the Location switching

Ok, I'll have to teste this situaiton, but till now I have not seen this in the current Access Connection build.

If anyone else have some comments, or experiences with this situaiton, please feel free to add some new post.It will help a lot.

Cheers

Herik,

Sorry for the confusion -- I was on a T41p till this past summer, and just forgot to update my signature when I got my T400s. I didn't realize I had the T41p in my signature, till your comment.

One other point that might be important: when I switch locations, I first connect using a Windows 7 account that only has User level (NOT administrative level) permissions. I'm wondering if Acccess Connections cannot store new saved ports from a User account.

FYI: I saw this same behavior with v5.50

Cheers,
