Access Connections Issue for 802.1x -> CiscoLeap->AES authoriation

2011-02-16, 17:49 PM

I just installed Windows 7 on laptop T410 and installed the latest access connections 5.72. But I found previouly supported authorization in AC 4.12 (802.1x -> Cisco Leap->AES) can't be supported again.

I did try to install 4.12 AC (for WinXP) on Windows 7, it can't work.

But this authorization is required to get access company wireless. I did seach a lot on the web but didn't find any workaround.

Can anybody help? Thanks!!!

Nai yan.

in AC 5.72 click on the field were the connection shows and another window will open then change number 2 to best avilable network then there will be a check box for IEEE 802.1x

Firstly, be sure that you are also running the latest version of the wireless driver for your system.  It actually has the extensions that AC will use for the other EAP types (like LEAP)

When you create a profile, where in XP you choose LEAP, choose "Use 802.1X or other security". Then click on the Properties button.

Then for Security type, choose WPA2-Enterprise which will also set your encryption to AES.

Under "Choose a network authentication method" choose Cisco: LEAP. Click the settings button and choose what kind of credentials you want to use.

If the Cisco LEAP setting is missing, then you either do not have the latest driver or have a bad installation.  Either way, uninstall the current driver and install the latest.

I had a similar probelm on my T400.  Cisco:LEAP wasn't an option in Access Connections 5.72.  I resolved it by installing Intel ProSet Wireless Wifi - http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-73611.

Cisco:LEAP is now an option under "Use 802.1x or other security" -> Properties -> WPA2-Enterprise, AES, Cisco:LEAP
