Except that's not where Message Center Plus gets installed.  At least on my machine, it put it in

c:\Program Files\Message Center Plus\.  And there's no program called Amsg.exe

I just downloaded the latest version (2.0.011), released today of MCP. and it installed in

C:\Program Files\LENOVO\Message Center Plus and has an exe of MessageCenterPlus.exe

The amsg.exe file is located in C:\Program Files\Lenovo\Message Center Plus\Legacy.  I am running Windows 7 and amsg will not even execute with erroring out because of a missing file AHLPRUNL.dll.

Either way i still do not like the blasted thing.  TVSU was/is still the best software update tool they had/have.  I still use it in conjunction with GPO and Update Retriever for my 800+ laptops and all my desktops.

GIANT MISTAKE that will HURT HURT HURT Lenovo !! Very bad plan, you will lose much confidence. Poor planning shows weak company communication and bad judgement. You are destroying the best of the ThinkPad reputation... it is just insanity for Lenovo to do things this way. Very very poor and bad project management. I personally have seven IBM/Lenovo PCs and will change vendors because of this very poorly handled decision to end TVSU without advance notice or good alternative. Pitiful bad methodology of Lenovo. Sad to see such a good reputation be ruined.

It is now the end of May...and I am still getting the same messages from April when I first got my W500. If I wanted this type of support I could have bought an HP or a Dell and saved a few $$$ for future agrivation.

Is there any definitive timeline for getting TVSU up and running soon?

I wanted to amend my posting from the previous one.  I have a Lenovo 3000 N100 Notebook and had to reimage my PC due to Vista corrupt files.  I am now trying to install updates from Lenovo Care System Updates.  I am getting the errors in the subject line.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

New version of Message Center Plus released today for whatever that's worth.  See Message Center Plus

That link reminds me of one of my major beefs with the Lenovo support website: virtually meaningless reams of stuff about each download which totally fails to explain what it is for. Not that taking SU has made this any worse, because the same useless "information" used to just turn up in that.

Well, when we are talking about  the old Message Center, on my system it can be found on multiple places:

C:\Program Files\ThinkVantage\AMSG\ "Amsg.exe"

I am still able to run it. And I do not understand what should be the big deal about fixing the automatic start? I was able to turn that off in its own settings year ago...

C:\Program Files\Lenovo\Message Center Plus\Legacy\ "Amsg.exe"

Now, why do we have it twice ?

The new one installed itself here:

C:\Program Files\Lenovo\Message Center Plus\ "MessageCenterPlus.exe"

When I run it, nothing happens. What is it supposed to do now anyway ??

(The above mentioned is for WinXPpro and R61)

You might need to install Access Help, not available for download, only from C:\SWTOOLS\APPS\AHLP on your factory preload. However on my T500 Vista 32 factory preload, five subdirectories were missing from C:\SWTOOLS\APPS including AHLP. Instead I found the five subdirectories including AHLP in C:\Program Files\MLPS\APPS.

I also install Windows 7 and it download from lenovo all it can take... I guess. I try to install a few other things like the ultranav driver to scroll pages without success. But I also tried to install things like access connections in Vista business x64 without success.

Almost all download from lenovo when try to install says is already there. Any other didn't work.

But worst there is quite lot of software that is not possible to download.

And plus the system update gone I really feel that is like buying a house with the advert " if you want to change the toilet we will take the kitchen too"

But without any advertise.

Plus I call lenovo and they say they can't send the install cds because I bought the laptop in another country, is quite ridiculous, I choose lenovo because international warranty. And They already send me 3 times the install cds for windows XP being here. Considering they had to send 3 times the cds because their mistakes I guess they are having a serious problem.

So at the end they just don't give any reason to trust in lenovo. I like the thinkpad keyboard and the hard case but I'll move from this company fast as possible. I pay much more for a brand that has nothing but an empty name. As soon I tried to change a little bit every lenovo system felt down. So is just like a Mac, take it as is or leave it. That's why I didn't take a Mac.

And I don't like to complain but there is just no reason to happen all this. They could say what the problem is and give some support to help it, but nothing but less support, I just think is not having respect for the clients.
