Fingerprint System Not Available

I'm having trouble using the fingerprint reader on my Thinkpad W500 4058 CTO after performing a system update on ThinkVantage System Update.  When I'm at the login screen, there is a message at the top of the screen that says, "Fingerprint System Not Available."  When I open and log into the Lenovo fingerprint enrollment software and try to enroll a finger, it says, "Cannot communicate with the sensor.  Please confirm the sensor is ready."

 

Currently running software version 3.1.25.80 and driver version 8.0.26.3.

 

I'm all out of ideas on how to make this work and was hoping someone else has a solution.  If not, I'd like to find out how I could revert back to the original software/drivers that came with the computer.

fingerprint system not available

When I log on to Vista, it says at the top "Fingerprint System Not Available". Was working fine until just a moment ago, and the fingerprint reader can still recognize fingerprints. Any idea what is wrong?

I am facing the same problem too. The login screen still indicated the fingerprint system was working during the last few reboot and now its not available. I don't remember changing any setting relating to the fingerpirnt system.

 

Someone pls help......

Same problem happens to me. at beginning, my T400 works fine with the fingerprint login, but after I installed some softwares, fingerprint was not available anymore.

 

same error when login "Fingerprint system not available"

My T400 has the same problem.

 

"Fingerprint System Not Available"

 

after the first several successful login with fingerprint, malfunction now.

I have had this same issue. I was able to use the fingerprint reader until I went through the ThinkVantage System update. Since then the fingerprint software is unable to comunicate with the Fingerprint Hardware. What can we do to fix this!!!!!!!

I have a W500 and my fingerprint reader works fine as long as I do a clean boot.  If I suspend and resume, 99% of the time the reader doesn't work.  I don't get the "Fingerprint System Not Available" though, I get "please wait" indefinitely.

 

Is there a way to turn on / turn up the logging from the fingerprint software?  might help to figure out what is wrong.  It sounds like my problem isn't the same as the others here as mine works until I suspend.

 

Same software and driver version here on Vista x64, Authentec fingerprint hardware.  I know my T60p had a different fingerprint reader in it (UPEK?) and I'm wondering if the new drivers or software for the Authentec hardware are a bit flakey...

Ok,

on first hand it was looking good, but the sensor is still not operating.

I'm doing restore, can't find any solution,

I don't understand why Lenovo can't find any solution!!!
