Lenovo Settings Blue Light reduction Mode (Night Light) Stopped Working

2017-03-22, 3:09 AM

I have been using the Blue Light Reduction feature of the Lenovo Settings app for months and it is really useful in cutting down blue light at night and it makes it easier to sleep at night after working on my computer.

Looks like there was a recent software update and I no longer see any option to enable the Blue Light Reduction feature in the Lenovo Settings utility.

Has anyone else experienced this?

How can I fix this and reenable Blue Light Reduction in the Lenovo Settings app?

So the Blue Light reduction mode was definitely missing in the Lenovo Settings App but after I performed a Windows System Update it is now back. Odd because around the same time it forgot the batter saver option, as well as to lock the system after 15 minutes of idle time.

After the update I was able to enable everything back. Strange.

It sounds like the Lenovo System Interface foundation was self updating/dynamic PNP Lenovo device did not load/similar.

You state 2 features:

(1)Battery gauge <gone

(2)Light dimming <gone

(3) Could you clarify "lock the system after 15 minutes of idle time"? Where did you set this value... Lenovo settings  ..elsewhere in windows? What OS are you running?

====

Technical note:

 At each reboot,  a Plug and play dynamic device is loaded. WUDFRd. \Driver\WUDFRd.

In simple terms, a reboot restablishes this communication device used by Lenovo Settings and Lenovo Companion, SIF interface.

You will find items related to this in event viewer.

You will also see a footprint in c\windows\temp\*a temp file* 2kb in size, showing the PNP device log.

#pragma namespace("\\\\.\\ROOT\\Lenovo")
#pragma deleteinstance("WMI_extension.Name=\"Lenovo.PnPSignedDriverEx, Version=1.0.0.3, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=295da83ec5e82df3\"", nofail)
#pragma deleteinstance("__InstanceProviderRegistration.provider=\"Wmi_Extension.Name=\\\"Lenovo.PnPSignedDriverEx, Version=1.0.0.3, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=295da83ec5e82df3\\\"\"", nofail)
#pragma deleteinstance("__MethodProviderRegistration.provider=\"Wmi_Extension.Name=\\\"Lenovo.PnPSignedDriverEx, Version=1.0.0.3, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=295da83ec5e82df3\\\"\"", nofail)
#pragma deleteclass("Win32_PnPSignedDriverEx", nofail)

 I do not know  #pragma. It is C++.

A reboot fixed the issue. Thanks for your feedback. "Strange" better explained.

I find settings version 3.150.0.0, SIF 1.0.070.04.
