Lenovo Solution Center cannot connect to Warranty Server

Lenovo Solution Center 2.8.005 Revision 21092 reports a Warranty alert int the Support section. Under Warranty a yellow wanring bar reports "Warranty Unable to get response from warranty server." In addition, a Product registration alert is also reported under Support. It reads "Product registration Lenovo Solution Center could not find your registration information." These are the only two alerts reported by Lenovo Solution Center.

 

I completed the registration process. On support.lenovo.com I can confirm that the Lenovo ThinkPad W520 is registered to me and that it is out of warranty. Therefore, this is a defect in the Lenovo Solution Center.

 

Is there a way to work-around this defect or get it fixed by Lenovo?

Lenovo solution center fails to find warranty

I have owned 3 W series lapops over the last 7 years, all with 3 year warranties included in the cost, and none of them were able to get any support.  Lenovo solution center shows "Unable to get response from warranty server", and this message is the same for the last 4 years and 2 differnt notebooks.  What is lenovos problem with its warranties?

 

With my W520, Is spent more than 6 months trying to get them to recongise my warranty I have the reciept for, before being able to get any support for HW issues.  

 

I cant face the came process for my W530.

 

Does eveyrone have this issue, or is it just me?

It's pretty bad here in Australia, Lenovo do not offer any support at all. The only way you can get support is if you have a warranty claim, which considering the warranty server is never working, means nothing.

Lenovo has released a Service TIP documenting an issue with Lenovo Solution Center being unable to lookup device warranty.

The workaround is to visit the warranty website directly. It can be found here: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/warrantylookup

Hi Amy,

The workaround does not help. LSC continues to be unable to connect to warranty server (and to the registration server as well). I think the problem is with LSC itself. Some settings prohibit LSC to connect to the outside world.

You will need to install lenovo companion. (win8 and win 10)

LSC since aug 2015 fails warranty lookup. The December 2015 release also fails warranty lookup.

Any tip from Lenovo is a work around. The defect is LSC?

Thanks!! This helped me, though I did find that my warranty information is incorrect and that I will have to contact them for a change once I find my receipt.

 

I wish I could mark this as a solution to the issue... but left "Kudos" for the reply.
