Re: Lenovo Vantage Battery Conservation mode gone? Help

2018-02-14, 19:29 PM

All,

Due to problems reported after installing the patch, I have prepared another way to apply the patch that won't result in Windows thinking that it needs to block the DLL files.  The patch itself is the same, I'm just changing the way that it gets applied.  If you applied the previous patch and it didn't work, please try this.  If you haven't applied the previous patch, just do this one.

First, download the patch from one of the following links.  These links are the same, so you only need to download one.  If one doesn't work for you, then try the other:

https://1drv.ms/u/s!ApXWjQB7_a1bhbQZd6bwOEjUTyWSsQ

https://www.dropbox.com/s/9mto2yp3vnxh359/FixConservationMode_v2.zip?dl=0

Unzip the file to your drive (I recommend unzipping to C: ).  Then:

1.  Open a Command Prompt as administrator.  This means:  open start menu, type cmd, then right-click on "Command Prompt" and choosing the option "Run as Administrator"

2.  change to the folder where you unzipped the file.  (such as:   cd \patch)

3.  execute patch.bat

4.  reboot

5.  run Lenovo Vantage - is the problem fixed?  If not, then close Lenovo Vantage and run it again.

For my Yoga 920-131KB, this did, sort of, fix it.  I tried to run the batch file, but it kept erroring out.  It had deleted the directory, so I copied the patch files over manually and unblocked them manually. Conservation mode is back - for now. Thanks, Bob

OK.. so far so good, I used someotherguy's first method.
At 21:13 last night conservation mode has been returned. Before going to sleep (around 22:40) it's still there.

Now after 12 hours I checked again and it's still there.

Many thanks for the fix, I hope it won't disappear again.

Maybe you're in development mode, so you don't have such a check box to make sure.

For your device security, please don't enable the development mode unless you are actually a developer.

You can enter from desktop at the end of the taskbar. Check "All Settings"->“Update And Security”->"For developers" to see whether you have enabled this mode. Any binaries can be executed if you enable this mode, in that case these binaries will have the access to execute themselves even if they have no signature and aren't trusted by the computer.

One final word, for those who have got their conservation mode back and help us find the root cause, now you can delete the registry which it used to generate the log report located at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Lenovo\Modern\Logs" and "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lenovo\Modern\Logs", also you can delete the logs generated at directory "C:\ProgramData\Lenovo\Modern\Logs".

Thanks for your kindly suggestions and warm-hearted help~ ^_^
