Lenovo Vantage - "Check for updates" button disabled

2020-07-08, 22:47 PM

Hi there,

I have a Lenovo X1 Yoga (1st gen), and the "Check for updates" button in the Lenovo Vantage app is disabled. It used to work fine, but stopped working a little while ago. How do I get this button enabled again?

Thanks,

Frankie

Usually it is because the service IMController service is stopped.

I've double checked and the IMController Service is started and running, and I even tried restarting it for good measure - but the button is still disabled.

Can you check in Control Panel -> Programs -> Programs and Features whether Lenovo Vantage Service is installed?  If it's not installed, please install it from here:

Could you help to enable log and send back the logs files?

rename the txt file to reg file, and double click the file to enable log.

Reboot system or restart Lenovo IMcontroller service.

And zip the file in the following folders:

C:\ProgramData\Lenovo\Modern\Logs

C:\ProgramData\Lenovo\SystemUpdate\logs

Yes - Vantage Service was installed.

hzfdbd - thanks for trying to help, but I found a guide to downgrade my Vantage to the old version, and now everything is working fine again.

Follow these steps to install Lenovo Vantage properly on your system:

  1. Open Control Panel -> Programs -> Uninstall a Program.
  2. Look for "Lenovo Vantage Service" in the list, and uninstall it.
  3. Reboot the computer.
  4. Start Vantage again, you should be prompted to install Lenovo Vantage Service, please do it.

I hope, the issue stops after this.

I already tried this before, and it did not fix my problem. Thanks for trying though.

Could you show the registry value below?

ImageState key value under the

 HKLMSOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionSetupState registry key.

That registry setting says:  IMAGE_STATE_COMPLETE

I also have the same issue of that update system button greyed out. I uninstalled, rebooted and then allowed the system to reinstall. Still the same issue.
