Lenovo Vantage Dolby Settings not Saved

2018-02-21, 0:28 AM

I have a ThinkPad X1 Yoga 2nd Gen. Recently, the Dolby Settings in Lenovo Vantage (4.9.183.0)  are not being saved on reboot. I like to keep it on "Music", but it keeps getting reverted to "Voice".

I got a clue why this situation might happen.  In Vantage, under Microphone settings, turn off "Automatic Audio Optimization".  It can cause Dolby to be voice mode automatically while user is using Microphone to call, it is supposed to be put back to the previous mode after calling ends.  Are you using any calling software?  Does it start automatically after reboot?  With this clue maybe you can help us figure out what is going on.

It may be the "Smart Setting" that is doing this, so can you please check it?

In Vantage -> Hardware Settings -> Smart Settings, there is an option to automatically configure Dolby for the appropriate mode for the apps you are using.  If you disable this, does your problem go away?

The "Smart Setting" has been off. This is not the problem.

I checked my X1 Yoga 2nd-gen but not seeing this problem.  I set it to "Music" and rebooted.  Then I ran Vantage again and it's still set as "Music".  What do I need to do to see the problem here?

I wish I had more information. I will say that if I have it set to "Music", then I turn Dolby Settings off and reboot, then when I turn Dolby Settings back on, it will be set to "Music". But if I reboot with "Music" set, then it sets to "Voice". It doesn't matter what I have it set to, it will revert to "Voice" on reboot.

What version of audio driver is installed?

Device Manager -> Sound, video and game controllers -> Conexant SmartAudio -> click on Driver tab

That's the same version I have here.  I'll ask our test team if they ever saw this issue, or have any idea what else to check.  It may be next week before I can get back to you.

That was it! I turned the "Automatic Audio Optimization" setting off and the Dolby Settings persisted after reboot. Thank you for your help.
