Re: One Key Recovery software backup not available

2017-02-04, 17:16 PM

Hi

I have zero experience with OneKey Recovery. But maybe it is not that OKR is on the firmware, but that F2 just calls a partition that runs OKR bootable program. Does ORK works that way?

Regards

I can't say where it resides. It will run even if the C: drive is corrupt or formatted. The factory reset image resides on a recovery partition.

The 'windows' version of the app lets you save a new image to the partition, or portable drive. On my on older laptop the partition is only 12 Gig, so once you load it up with  full fleet of software you can no longer use that partition for a full backup.

Since you are under warranty, call the support center for clarification of software shipped with your machine.

Re: One Key Recovery software backup not available

2017-02-16, 15:11 PM

I have a Lenovo H50-55 with Windows 10 that I purchased from Best Buy about 2 weeks ago. Did the update to Windows anniversary edition, then migrated the 2Tb drive to a new Samsung 850 SSD using Macrium Reflect. Booted, everything ran ok, wiped the C: partition on the 2Tb drive (all others were left intact).

Had problems with the OS and Mail, OKR (under F2 at boot) fails stating that partitions changed and can't find the image file D:\Lenovo\OneKey App\OneKeyRecovery\xxxxxxxx.wsi. Tried using with original 2Tb drive with same results. Using F1 at boot I can reset the PC but it is missing the preinstalled drivers and software.

1) Does the OKR image come with the drive or was I supposed to create it?
2) Do I have to reinstall using Windows recovery and then use OKR to restore drivers/software?

NOTE: I did end up doing option 2 but it's slow, I'd prefer to have a factory image that restored the PC quicker.

Any ideas?

Re: One Key Recovery software backup not available

I will offer some comments.  I do not have OKR.

(1)A user purchased a Yoga 910 from bestbuy recently(doctordon).  User found NO OKR on the machine.  See the post above.

From your statements, your seem to have had FULL OKR on your machine.

(2)OKR FULL is very partition size specific.

You took a Lenovo loaded 1 TB hdd and Macrium image copy to 850GB SSD.

The copy worked; OKR probably broken now. Partitions sizes changed.

(3)OKR full, [my invented term], means you can use OKR to backup your C drive.

This would go to a D drive/partition, on your 1TB HDD. Lenovo would have put the Drive there and you would have to have taken a backup. ie, restore to YOUR okr backup.

(4)Other features of your Lenovo system should be:

a. reset system (a windows feature, probably a reinstall of windows)

b. reinstall factory drivers (this feature provided by OKR subsystem)

c. take your own backup to Partition D.

d. All this is probably 8 partitions on your HDD.

e. Updating/upgrading to win10 anniv did not make the fun any better.

See martin post earlier.

All that said:

It get very confusing very fast.

(1)I think your FULL OKR is now trash. Use windows backup or other.

(2)Use Companion app from windows store. Use the system update feature for driver updates.

(3)I would suggest going to your support page, but Lenovo made changes again. It is now waxed for several days now.

I wont ask why you zapped the C drive on the HDD. NOT recommended until SSD is smiling 24/7 365. Some MAIL programs do not like partition changes.

Was your win anniv update something you did or did windows update offer it(and its excitement)?

Bingo to just about everything you wrote. Once I first booted and entered my information I was pesented with an icon for the anniversay update. From earlier posts I understand that screwed up OKR before I cloned partitions.

OKR wouldn't work, so I created a USB for reinstall and did that. Then did the OKR option to load programs and drivers so at this point I've probably got it back the way it was other than OKR not working ever again.

chicken or the egg?

You state:

I understand that screwed up OKR before I cloned partitions [anniv update].

Sounds correct to me.  The restore to factory is now non functional.

Original windows 10 OS build 10240. <<Your Lenovo build with original windows 10.

After August 2015 [anniv version],the november update.

Version 1511 (OS Build 10576.29) <1511 is November 2015.

Your reinstall of OKR seems to add the restore drivers feature, which is what you wanted.

But the FULL OKR is gone with the wind. It certainly did not re-establish partition D and backup your C drive with OKR.[user beware-reinstall OKR].

Thanks for your feedback.

It went in the oven chicken, and it came out pork chops/chips, lol.

Regards to user Martiniturbide. His post is most correct.

Lenovo has too much junk under the trunk with belief OKR is the solution to anything.
