Problems with Access Connections

2012-05-20, 20:41 PM

Windows 7

Thinkpad x120e

Gobi 2000 option

Access Connections 5.92

Power Management Driver 1.65 (latest)

Hotkey Features Integration 3.70 (latest)

Latest drivers for Gobi 2000

There are four options in Access Connections for Wifi, Mobile Broadband, WiMAX, and Other Connections. The WiMAX option for me is greyed out. There is also no option for Clearwire in the drop down list at the top. I thought this option was added in a past version.

I've tried disabling the wimax and wwan in the BIOS and restarting. I've tried version of AC that other people have said are working with their x120e/Gobi's. I can't get AC to allow me to choose the WiMax option. Am I missing something?

Hello RobSwift127

Please check WiMAX driver should be installed as you  can check in device manager.

Kindly update ThinkVantage Access Connection to version 5.93

The issue should resolve after this.

Best Regards,

Tanuj

The Gobi 2000 does not support WiMax, so you are apparently missing a Wimax capable card.

WiMax capability is normally supported through the WiFi card such as an Lenovo Intel 6250 or similar.

Cheers,

Bill

The Gobi 2000 is not a WiMax card. If WiMax is greyed out that means you do not have a WiMax card in our system.

bnsf,

I think that was the point Bill was making - that the wimax capability depends on the wifi or wireless card and not the Gobi2000 WWAN card.  Thanks for confirming.

RobSwift127,

Which wifi card do you have in your system?   If you can share the full model type from the bottom of the system, we may be able to help look it up and make a determination.

Thanks

Mark

It's the Realtek RTL8192CE.

Also thanks to both of you for clearing that up.
