RecordNow update doesn't apply?

I have a ThinkPad G40 2388, and the SystemUpdate tells me there is an update to apply for RecordNow. My RecordNow is by Veritas and the update is RecordNow by Sonic. I've tried many times to apply the update automatically and manualy and after what appears to be a completion of the install and reboot, theres no update to my version. The update link in the software for an update from the Veritas server takes me to Symantecs web site. And there's no help there unless you want to buy a Symantec product. I was wondering if there's a way to obtain a clean copy of the Sonic version (full version) without a purchase necessary? Or, is there a way to get this update to apply?

The RecordNow version that was included with your G40 was never available for full download from the support website or anywhere else.  I'm sorry, but we simply no longer have software support for your G40 that is 8 years old now.  I would recommend to try to find some freeware software that does what you need it to.  If you describe what you are trying to do with the software, someone may be able to suggest some alternative.

try this update version http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?&LegacyDocID=MIGR-57007 don't click run when you download save the file to your pc then go to where you saved it right click & run as admin. also if you still have the preinstalled from factory the original version of recordnow is on the HDD

No that won't install. I was able to locate on my hard drive a file to get the original version re-installed. So I'm able to burn a disc again. Thanks for the help guy's.

I tried above link (http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-57007) but got the following error on my IBM T40: This Progam can only be used on IBM or Lenovo hardware... So really confused as T40 is listed under supported systems.

 

I performed a full system restore from the Product Recovery CDs but no luck...
