Restore files on X220 after theft of T61

2011-11-12, 1:01 AM

Hello!

My T61 (Windows XP) was stolen. But I always made R&R-Backups on an external USB-HDD so I hoped there would be no problems.

I bought a brand new X220 (Windows 7) and tried to restore the files of my Backup from the external USB-HDD. It didn't work.

Now here ist the problem: all the new ThinkVantage Tools of the X220 do NOT recognize the backup-files on the USB-HDD, which where made with the ThinkVantage Tools of the T61. It seems as there is a big down-compatibility problem with the new R&R 4.31 on Windows 7.

It's unbelievable!

So what do I have to do now to restore the files from the backup on the new system?
