ThinkVantage System Update: Issue installing Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver 10.6.0.1002

2011-11-10, 1:31 AM

Thinkvantage is listing this update as an "optional update." It refuses to install. Since it says it fixes a BSOD issue, I would like to install it. Any help?

Hello,

Do you have a BSOD issue? If not, scratch the install attempt. As they say "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

Good luck!

Surf to lenovo website using internet explorer, locate the download drivers page at http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/default.page? and select 'run auto detect' so that your system is recgonize and the drivers for your laptop shows up.

Download

a) The intel chipset support under "Chipset"

b) The Intel Rapid storage Driver under "Storage"

Install a, then install b, it should works.

If not, then some other drivers is blocking the progress

I am have the same problem on both my T420 and my W520. After trying to install through the ThinkVantage Tools update it says "1 Package did not install Intel Rapid Storage AHCI Driver for Windows".

You only should install it (manually), if you have the issue with the current driver descibed in the readme (see "Summary of changes" on the linked pages below).

A few lines below you will find the installation instructions.

Re: ThinkVantage System Update: Issue installing Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver 10.6.0.1002

So the issue I see is that previously it was not compatible with my system:

"(New) Added support for ThinkPad T420, T420i, T520, T520i.

(New) Added support for Intel Mobile Express Chipset SATA AHCI Controller."

I run in AHCI mode and want it to continue to work. I can just keep ignorning the update in the list for now I guess.
