Windows 7 and fingerprint device sensor

2016-02-09, 2:31 AM

Hello,

It's been an annoying to get the fingerprint device working on T400 with Windows 7. It used worked before until I re-imaged it. The software just says enable to communicate with sensor.   I don't remember what I did to deal with this earlier since I remember facing this issue in the past. I tried removing and reinstalling the driver but no avail.

Any idea what could be wrong?

Thanks

Hello,

Have you tried installing the Lenovo Fingerprint Software for Windows 7 (64-bit)?

If so, did that make any difference?

Yes I did install the same driver a few times but it didn't help.

Checked the sensor connection and cable and it's all good. The Device Manager shows that the device is working normal.

It's frustrating..

Hello,

I do not have a T400 myself, but I am wondering if there is an option in the BIOS which should be checked to see that the fingerprint reader is enabled.

Yes, there is an option to enable it in the BIOS and it's enabled.

It used to work until I re-installed Win7-64bit with a new SSD.  I installed Vista-64bit just to check the sensor and it was working. But it is not willing to work on Win7 again for some reason.

Maybe something is fishy with the Win7 driver or missing something else..
