Access Connections cannot resize GUI

Hi All,  searching forums - saw lots of items, but nothing specific to this issue.

I have T400, Windows XP - access connections v. 5.50

I have installed all the pre-reqs (.NET 3.5 SP1, all the other thinkvantage gorp - hotkey utils, etc.)

When I launch the Access Connections utility (to make a WiFi connection) the Access Connections GUI is a tiny, unresizable window.  Just a tiny titlebar with only minimize / close buttons enabled -- I can more it, but cannot resize, enlarge, maximize, etc.

What gives?  I've reinstalled AC several times, made sure I'm at SP1 of .NET 3.5..  help!

Thanks in advance.  Mike

Re: Access Connections cannot resize GUI

Hi,

please update to the latest Acces Connection 5.72 version.

I think, I saw this kind of issue already, but usually it was fixed by new installation.

Let me know, if the issue is still present also with the 5.72 version.

Cheers

Re: Access Connections cannot resize GUI

Thank for the reply.

I upgraded my Access Connections.   Still got the tiny window.....   Smiley Sad

..should I perhaps try upgrading .NET to version 4?  ..I thought I read somewhere this could cause issues..

thoughts?  -thanks, Mike

Re: Access Connections cannot resize GUI

Hi,

I would not go directly with the .NET 4.
What I would try to do is to reinstall the .NET 3.5.

It is a bit strange, what you are experiencing. And you say, that other applications, like Power Manager do not have this kind of issue?

As you are using Access Connection on XP, try following:

- go to %programfiles%\ThinkPad\ConnectUtilities

and execute the file called "ACMainGUI.exe"
This should bring up the old GUI style of access connection, which is not fully depend on the GUI style of the new, which of course requires the WPF.

Basically yes, this is a good point:

Make sure, that following services are up and running on your machine:

- Wireless Zero configuration

- Windows Presentation Foundation ***

- AC Profile Manager Service

- Access Connections Main Service

Cheers

Re: Access Connections cannot resize GUI

Hello, I am having the very same problem on two user's systems with AC 5.30 on a T61 and a T410:  small titlebar for AC and not expandable.  I have uninstalled all Thinkvantage apps, cleaned registry entries with multiple cleaners, multiple scans for malware using three different scanners.  All clean, all good.  Rebooted.  Re-intalled only Access Connections, same problem:   launching Access Connections produces a "squished" 1-inch titlebar which cannot be expanded.  Without being able to get into the application, I can't configure any networking profiles.  One user recalled that she was using "Adobe Connect" just prior to this problem, if that helps.  I thought it might be some sort of systray hijacker, but all malware scans come up clean....or ...is this a new one.

Has there been any solution to this?

Thanks!

Installing 5.72 did not fix the problem.
