Welcome to the forums Cerebros!

You should be able to disable it in the LSC dashboard.

Launch LSC>Dashboard View>Edit>Drag "Updates" or any unneeded item to the right "Events not monitored" section to disable.

Or

You can disable it by:

Start Button

Type Task in the search bar

Select (launch) Task Scheduler

Expand Task Scheduler Library

Click on Lenovo

You should see a task called Lenovo Solution Center (you may have to expand the Name column). Right click it and select Disable. Once that's done the task will no longer run at each login.

Even worse, once you log in the task runs every 12 hours so even if you don't log out it still reappears.

Also, go to this link for better understanding.

Let us know how you get on.

Regards,

Shashi

Task Scheduler

2016-05-23, 15:03 PM

Hi Shashi

I placed the hardware and updates into the right-hand side under 'Events not monitored'

of Lenovo Solutions Center. This does not mean I won't see the Lenovo Scan request pop-up though.

I think I would have to place everything from left to right to disable that pop-up. Lenovo should have made a simple button that said 'disable all scan' for Lenovo Solutions Center.

I wasn't able to follow you when you said:

Or

You can disable it by:

Start Button

Type Task in the search bar

Select (launch) Task Scheduler

Expand Task Scheduler Library

Click on Lenovo

Q: Which start button? Windows? I'm on Windows 8.1 not 7 (which has the classic 'start' feature).

I typed Task Scheduler into windows 8.1 search, nothing came up. How do I find this Task Scheduler Library on windows 8.1?

Thanks.

@Lenovoman123,

Could you clarify if your machine is a Thinkstation? A Thinkstation offers different screens for LSC vs a Thinkpad, etc.

What version of LSC do you have installed? This could help Shasi better help you.

Under my LSC 3.3.002, you select hardware scan.

You will see quick tests and select tests. If you slide the bar to the right, you will see schedule scan.  I think this is the option you are looking for.

Version of Lenovo Solutions Center re Task Scheduler

2016-05-24, 2:21 AM

Hi sclexman

Version 2.8.005

Revision: 21092

I have a B50-70, thats what my BIOS info says.

No mention of Thinkstation or stickers alluding to that.

Actually I'm not trying to start the scan by sliding it.

My goal was to disable the constant request from Lenovo Solutions to scan my laptop. I don't want it scanning anything. I wish Lenovo would have thought of a simple visible button to do that. Oh well, thanks anyway.

You have the old version of LSC.  It should have  self updated to 3.3.002. Self update bug in release you are on.

Under new LSC, you must use the slider bar to find the hardware schedule option to disable it.

@ Scleman….Thanks buddy. We appreciate for guiding lenovoman in a proper way.

@ Lenovoman….Please follow the above steps & let us know if that works accordingly.

Method 1: Open Task Scheduler in the Computer Management.

Step 1: Right-tap Computer (or My Computer) and choose Manage in the context menu to open Computer Management.

Method 2: Open it from Control Panel.

  • Press Windows key+X to open the Quick Access menu and tap Control Panel to open it.
  • Enter System and Security in Control Panel by clicking it.
  • In the System and Security settings, find Administrative Tools, and select Schedule tasks.

Tips: In this step, you can also open Administrative Tools and choose Task Scheduler in the tool list. In addition, as you can see from the picture below, apart from Task Scheduler, there are other administrative tools including Performance Monitor, Resource Monitor, Disk Cleanup, etc.

Method 3: Turn on Task Scheduler through Search bar.

Step 1: Press Windows key+F to open the Search bar, type schedule tasks in the empty box and choose Settings in the list.

Let us know how you get on.

Regards,

Re: Version of Lenovo Solutions Center re Task Scheduler

The following steps should disable the hardware scan on version 2.8.xxx

Launch LSC.  On the home page, select dashboard view. Edit.

If hardware scan is on Events not monitored, move it to the left side. save settings.

This option will now display on the dashboard and on the Check-up tab.

Moving hardware scan event notify in/out of dash board does not change the scan feature. Hardware scan on the dashboard does not allow changing the scan option.

==

Now move to the Check-up tab. Select hardware scan.  Then select the schedule option.

Now you can disable the run option.

 As far as task scheduler,

win10>start button>apps>win 10 admin tools>task scheduler.

For other OS, follow Sashi notes.  If you can find disk managment, you can find task scheduler.

=

Right click the entry, disable.

Sashi comments to disable the scan by moving the selection out of dashboard are incorrect.

We are now good!. Update to latest LSC .
