Lenovo Companion: System Update Server currently unavailable

Hi all,

 

since about 3 weeks I always get the following message when checking for updates from within Lenovo Companion:

   The System Update Server is currently unavailable. Please try again later.

I don't think this is really the case, but haven't found a way to fix it.

 

Windows 10

Lenovo Companion 3.72.1.0

I have the same problem with my brand new LEGION Y520. I JUST got it yesterday and everything was fine. I did one update (which included a BIOS update) and now I keep getting that same message (The System Update Server is currently unavailable). Even when I try to update through the Lenovo website I have no luck. Were you able to fix the problem?

I am getting the same error message for the past few days.  The screens I notice also are different is there is a yellow exclamation point where the "warranty" status is.  When trying to update, the message I get is shown below.

 

I tried uninstalling/reinstalling Lenovo Vantage.

 

Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks

Hi,
I have exactly the same issue here.
X1 Extreme, latest BIOS and OS.
Start to notice this error since 20/5. Still not resolved.
I'm within warranty period.

Lenovo Vantage v4.27.32.0.
One user report on Reddit with same issue as well.

According to the error message, it seems the issue is on Lenovo side.
Any Lenovo staff can confirm or provide some advice? Thx.

I was having the exact same "system update server is currently unavailable" issue when scanning for updates.  Some time has passes since I first noticed the issue, but I would say it started in March or April of 2019.  I seem to have fixed this issue by toggling the Auto-Updates on and off again.  You may need to turn them on, close, reopen, then turn them off again (if you don't want to leave them on).  After doing this, manually scanning for updates seems to be working now.

thanks for sharing this, haven't got chance to try this out, as it just started working about 3 days ago

This was an issue with our servers and we fixed it over the weekend.  sorry for this trouble

I'm having the same issue. I have many identical laptops (20KH002RUS) and I'm currently having the problem on only 1 of them. I've uninstalled/reinstalled Lenovo Vantage, reset the app via the Windows App Settings, rebooted, and tried different wifi networks.

Any ideas?

Same issue here, exactly the same X1 Carbon model too. Vantage says update servers unavailable, and Lenovo System Update says the product catalogue is being updated, try again later.

Today, ALL of my model 20KH002RUS laptops are having the problem, last week it was just 1 of them.
