Lenovo Solution Center Hardware scan error

Whenever I try to run the hardware scan I get the error:

 

"Lenovo Solution Center service is not available. Please restart the application, or reboot your computer if the problem persists."

 

My model is a Thinkpad Edge E540 (20C6008SUS) with Windows 8.1 and I just bought it last week.

 

I tried rebooting and that didn't work so then I tried restarting the program with administrative privileges and that didn't work either. I have adobe air updated to version: 15.0.0.356 and LSC to the most recent version: 2.7.003.00 I ran the Lenovo software update tool to check if any programs were out of date and everything should be up to date.

 

If anyone could help me with this problem I would really appreciate your help. Smiley Happy

I finally found a solution to this problem, all you need to do it let it run the scheduled run for whatever you have it set for and it should work atleast it worked for me. Good luck everyone with this issue!

Well, this does not work for me because the scheduler does not allow for any changes. Schedule is set for monthly and any change does not get saved ....

This problem has persisted for months without any meaningful response from Lenovo, which is frustrating only in that I keep getting these meaningless messages/alerts.

Can someone on an administrative level respond with potential solutions/status?

Yes, I did run the updates but no luck.
Any other thoughts?

Also did you try my solution that has it running on the schedule? What OS are you running as well.

@maxw523,

What OS are you running, machine type and model(ie, 9702-CTO), and version of LSC you have installed.

System Update and LSC are different products.

SU has a task scheduler entry to check for software updates, monthly.

LSC has a task scheduler entry to  do a Hardware scan,monthly.

All SU can do for you is install a new version of LSC, if available.

 

It appears you have a LSC issue of some kind. Please state what issues you are seeing, ie same alerts or a "lsc service not available, reboot" or similar. You state you have seen this issue for months. alerts(normal) vs LSC service not available(software bug?)  are different issues.

Your later post mentioned Scheduled scan, I assume LSC hardware scan.

Lsc during the last year has had issues where LSC software fails during a  manual run of hardware scan. Symptoms include Lsc service not available. You have the latest version of LSC.  Monitor what you see and post back if the "service not available"  screen shows up. Describe if this hardware scan was done manualy or a result of the scheduled monhtly run.
