Ok guys...I my need a bit more information on this to get past this error.  The solution says "changed the compatability mode to Windows XP SP 2". 

What does that mean to me...with Vista Ultimate?

It means simply that you locate the program exe file for the System Update (default on my machine is C:\Program Files\Lenovo\System Update\tvsu.exe) and right-click that file, choose properties and then Compatibility tab. There you can find "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" option, check that and select the Windows XP SP2.

So I had the original problem TVSU.exe has stopped working.

Ran it in XPSP2 compatibility mode.  Now I get:

"A problem occurred while loading the System Update configuration settings.  Please wait while System Update restarts."  with an [[OK]] button

But clicking OK puts me into an endless loop of restarting System Update.

Suggestions?

I independently discovered the compatibility mode setting a little while back but my experience was identical to JayNYC -- infinite loop with no joy.

Any new info on getting System Update 3.14 to work when you get "tvsu.exe stopped working" error? I have tried everything on the board.

Two solutions:

1. Try opening

C:\Program Files\Lenovo\System Update

And right click on tvsu.exe, select properties.  Select the Compatibility tab.  Click the checkbook for "Run this program in compatibility mod for" and select "windows xp (service pack 2)" from the pull down.  Click OK.

Then system update should run.

 2. Run Tvsukernel.exe under C:\Program Files\Lenovo\System Update\. It should launch System Update.

I ran into essentially the same problem Vista32, System Update 3.14, and the SP2 compatibility work-around seemed to get it functional again.
