Having problems with the current version of Resue and Recovery on my T60.
I typically backup to the both the preboot area (or wherever the invisible backup goes to) and to an external usb hard drive.
For whatever reason, the "Finalizing Backup, Please Wait" box won't disappear and the clock just keeps spinning and spinning.
Any ideas as to what's going on? I can't see any data files on the external usb hard drive. Is the backup safe?
Why isn't this dialogue quitting out when done?

when you do a backup on two places, then mostly it's working like this:
- capture the backup to the Local HDD
- after this is done, RnR checks, whether this backup is ok
-> if the backup is ok, then it will be copied to the second backup place.
What is the max time, that is "finalized" the backup process?

The initial backup appears to have gone well to the local drive.
However, when it starts backing up to the external USB drive, the process does not seem to end (i.e., spinning hour glass 7 hours later).
I keep getting the message referred to in my previous message.
The Rescue and Recovery status also turns "grey" in the task bar. (Even though I get an indication that the process is finished when the local backup is concluded).
Thanks for any suggestions,

that seems strange. Maybe a stupid question, but I want to be sure: Is the USB HDD UBS 2.0 capable?
What mark is that HDD, maybe I have it so that I can test it.
Based on your description, it does seem to be realted to the USB HDD, but not sure, whether to the USB HDD, or to the RnR functionality of the backup to the USB HDD.
I do remember, that 4 weeks ago I have performed a backup on USB HDD that was a Verbatim with 160, or 250GB<not sure about the size> and although it took longer ~2,5 hour, but the backup process finished without any issue.
What RnR version are you using?

I'm using Rescue and Recovery 4.21.
The external drive is a 1 Terabyte LaCie external USB Drive which otherwise seems to work just fine for regular file transfers between the laptop and hard drive.
Thanks again for your help!

There have been at least two threads on this issue, which I ran into tonight myself. A backup to a 1-terabyte USB drive finished OK, according to R&R, but then that finalizing step continued for hours.
A poster in the other thread (from the end of last year) reported that the only thing that seems to work is to kill the process in Windows task manager, and apparently that doesn't do any harm. I hope that's true, because that's what I did.
