Rescue and Recovery to USB

Hi, in preparation for my new machine, got a quick question.

I though i read somewhere that you could make the rescue and recovery onto usb stick?

Anyone with experience with this, either doing it or if it can be done.

Yes I have done this myself. You must run diskpart on your USB stick first. To do this click run and type diskpart
Type list disk
Select your USB from the list by typing select disk X
X being the number of your chosen drive.
Now type clean
Now type create partition primary
Now type active
Now type exit
Now you need to format the USB in windows by right clicking and choosing format. Choose quick format and ntfs file system then format.
Your USB is ready to store recovery media now.
Once you have made the recovery onto it to boot from it press f12 at startup and choose the USB.

Sorry I can't remember off hand but I would allow around 20 min - 30 mins

it depends on how much is on the HDD, I just did a backup to external HDD started at 1:00pm ended 8:00pm but I have 3 windows partitions with alot of stuff on them

if you don't want to do all that above just formate to NTFS file system then when you start the backup you will be prompted to create rescue media select yes this will allow the USB to boot to predesktop recovery environment
