I've reimaged my laptop and since the beginning of the week I've been desperately trying to update my drivers using System Update and still not working. Is Lenovo aware of the problem.. can't they fix that once for all?
Previously with Update Connector we never had such issues.

Wow Lenovo... this is poor. I am experiencing this issue on several X300s, 1 of which has the OEM Lenovo image running on it.
Fix system update please.

I have tried everything mentioned here on this thread but I am still getting the error message "ia.exe has encountered a problem....."
I am running a fresh install of XP SP2 on an X40.

Ok I am new here and found this thread with google, I then RESOLVED this problem by doing a few things.
First I took the advice of the Lenovo guy and changed my setting in IE to auto detect proxy, It however did not solve my problem.
I left the proxy setting to auto
Next, Right click on the link to System Update and then go to Properties, then Compatibility Tab
Check "Run this computer in compatibility mode" and set it to XP
Then I checked the box, "Allow non-administrators to run this program"
Now it works, I am admin so am not sure if last box is necessary but it works for me now. Hope this helps you guys but if not I am not sure how much more I can help since it is working for me now.
System is X61 running XP Pro 64bit.
Good luck all,

Hello!
I would just like to share my experience on this topic. I had the same problem with my X60's and X61's (running Windows2000, UK/US-version).
The solution was to change the Regional Settings in the Controlpanel from Danish to English.
After that everything worked as a charm.
Hope this will be usefull for some of you ![]()
Best regards

I have been following this thread and no solutions had worked. I noticed the Danish to English change and though mine was already set to English, I just chose an arbitrary language and System Update started to work. I have now changed back to Enlighs and it still works.
Thanks, Morten.
