I ran TVSU 4.2 and received notice that ThinkPad Power Manager 3.62 was available
for installation. I was able to (apparently) correctly download Power Manager 3.62.
When I tried to install PM 3.62 the install failed.
Any sugestions?
Thanks,
Jim

I haven't heard of this issue before. Power Manager 3.62 installed OK for me. Can you please give more details? How exactly does the installation fail? What OS and system are you running?

am having similar problems on 3 Thinkpads.
On my R500 running Windows 7 professional with SP1, Update Retriever (version 4.02.0011) fails to download the package for Power Manager version 3.62. Of interest here is that when you try to list the details for this package, you get a blank screen. If you try to bypass Update retriever, and go with System Update (version 4.01.0015) directly, the update fails with message "1 package did not download".
On an R500, running Windows XP SP3, Power Manager (version 1.99j) fails with similar messages. Update Retriever (version 4.02.0011) reports "1 update failed to be downloaded" and System Update (version 3.152.0017) reports "1 package did not download".
On an R61, running Windows XP SP3, Power Manager (version 1.99j) fails with similar messages. Update Retriever (version 4.02.0011) reports "1 update failed to be downloaded" and System Update (version 3.152.0017) reports "1 package did not download".

There is definitely some problem with System Update and Update Retriever with Power Manager 3.62/1.99j. The older versions of Power Manager seem to be OK. I will ask our package team about this.
As a temporary work-around, please use the direct links to manually download and install power manager:

XP 1.99j: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.p

Hi Someotherguy (Lenovo Staff),
As a point of information I manually downloaded Power Manaer v.3.62 per
the link you provided. P.M. 3.62 correctly installed.
This was confirmed when I ran TVSU 4.02 and no packages were available for install.
The workaround was successful.
Thanks,
Jim

I hate to blow your bubble, but a work around is not a solution. A solution exists when the documented procedure produces the desired result without manual intervention. This has not happened (yet), although Lenovo is getting closer - sort of.
It is now Aug 29, and Power Manager 3.62 still will not download or install on my R500 (2714-CTO) under Windows 7 Professional (English), using neither the current version of Update Retriever nor with the current version of System Update. The description of the package is still empty when viewed using Update Retriever.
The new version of Power Manager for Windows XP (version 1.99j) which had initially exhibited the same behavior, finally downloaded and installed onto my R500 that runs Winows XP, on Aug 25, but did not download and install on my R61 until Aug 27. I would love to hear an explanation of the reason why it took 2 more days for the R61 to work, but I know I never will.
So Lenovo. What does it take to fix a package so it actually works as documented - without invoking special work arounds?

Power Manager 3.62 now downloads and installs using both Update Retriever and System Update on my R500 running Windows 7 (32 bit). Thanks.

I still get that Power Manager 3.62 looks like it installs, but after I reboot, I'm still running
power manager 3.61 (and if I update, it wants to install 3.62 all over again).

What do you have in the registry for DisplayVersion at this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\
