Thinkpad T61
XP SP3 (fully updated)
NIS 2010
[ . . . ] I have just installed Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox 6.0.5449.31 using System Update. As soon as I start the program, I get an error message that Windows is to shut down the Toolbox program and send an error report to Microsoft. There is no other information.
Hoping to uninstall the Toolbox program, I opened the Add/Remove Programs, and could find the Toolbox program neither under "L" (for Lenovo), nor under "P" (for PC-Doctor), nor under "T" (for ThinkVantage, Thinkpad or Toolbox).
N.B. I had a previous version of Toolbox which I downloaded from the Lenovo website. The latest intallation does not appear to have removed the older version. I cannot uninstall the older version either.
Update: Under the "What does this report contain" link. I find the following "Error Signature":
EventType : clr20r3 P1 : pcdr5cuiw32.exe P2 : 6.0.5449.28
P3 : 4b09004b P4 : mscorlib P5 : 2.0.0.0 P6 : 4a7cd8f7 P7 : 3494
P8 : d P9 : system.argumentnullexception

Hello everyone,
Thanks for your patience as we try to get to the bottom of this problem.
If you have an Event Log entry for Lenovo Broadband Connect (DetwanHw.exe) as described by Toybuilder, try the following workaround.
Workaround: Remove our Wireless WAN scriptlet
1. Navigate to this folder:
<LTT Install Dir>\scriptlets\security_action_items\
(typical installation is in C:\Program Files\PC-Doctor\scriptlets\security_action_items\)
2. Delete "MobileBroadband.xml"
If that does not address your situation, please post back and be sure to include the following:
a. OS (and 32- or 64-bit)
b. Whether you are using the Lenovo preload, MSDN, or a custom corporate image
c. Lenovo PC Model number
d. Whether you are in a managed or an unmanaged environment
Regards.

I have a simalar problem with a thinkpad T500 running Vista 64bit. I am a student and ave visual studio 2008 installed when I choose to debug the progam here is the exception detail fro it. You would think that a company such as PC Doctor and Lenovo would have the resources available to find this error and not rely on the people paying for the product to do it for them.
System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception was unhandled

Dear gd123 and Feldhege,
Did you try the workaround I described above (delete the MobileBroadband.xml file)? The debug message you provided is the same we are seeing before performing the workaround.

I tried but I don't have a directory in scriplets called "security_action_items".

Well, that's interesting. There should be 6 folders in C:\Program Files\PC-Doctor\scriptlets\. Could you tell me what folders are in scriptlets?
Make sure you are logged in as Admin (or elevate to Admin).

Well now I feel just stupid. I was looking in the SCRIPTS directory not the SCRIPTLETS directory. My Bad.
As for trying the workaround. Yep. That fixed the error. Thanks much.
