Ok, I like the Access Connections and Power Manager toolbars, but I do not like the toolbox toolbar.
I have opened the Thinkvantage Toolbox, went into settings and unchecked the the box next to: Show Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox Status Icon in the task bar, and clicked save. So now every time I open up the settings, the box shows as unchecked.
Problem is, every time I restart the computer it comes back. Why does it still keep coming back?
I have noticed that other changes I try to make do not persist also, like disabling the windows indexing service. That will not stay disabled. On reboot it is always back on. This is on my new T420 with Win7 home premium.
Love the computer, no problems other than changes that do not persist.
Any suggestions?

I could also reproduce this issue with the toolbox toolbar on my T420 (but not on my other systems). As of now I do not have any good solution for you. If you don't use the toolbox application, I recommend uninstalling it.
If you want to hack things, you could rename a file inside the folder "c:\program files\pc-doctor"
Rename "PcdToolbar584923.dll" to "PcdToolbar584923.original.dll" and reboot.
This will prevent Windows from finding the toolbar file which will cause the toolbar not to load.
It's not a very good solution but it's all I have for you at this time.
Sorry for your inconvenience about this problem.

That will work for me.
I do use and like the Application, just don't need the toolbar.
I use the blue button to launch the app.
Thanks for the tip.

My T520 has the same problem.

My T520 does not have this problem -- the Toolbox toolbar stays off, Windows file indexing also stays off. I'm using Thinkvantage Toolbox version 6.0.5849.23 and Win7 x64 Home Premium.

same problem here too. i tried unchecking the box, and also right clicking the task bar unchecking the toolbox, but it appears again after restarting. x120e.

Is there a good reason to keep the toolbox if you don't care about the automatic notice stuff?

If you don't use it, then you should uninstall it. This is true for any software on your system.
For the case of the toolbox, you can always re-install it later if you find out that you miss it for some reason.
And did you read my tip in message #3 of this thread? I provided a work-around for this issue in case you want to leave the toolbox installed.
