Have a Thinkpad L430.
Every time I log back into my user account on the laptop, whether from fresh boot, sleep or hibernate, within a few minutes I get interrupted by the Windows 7 User Account Control asking me if I want to allow lsc.exe to run.
If I view details it says it is program location '"C:\Prgam Files\lenovo\lenovo solution center\lsc.exe" -updatestatus'.
I've no problem with the machine checking for updates but a) I'd rather it did it when the daily Windows Home Server backup is running (i.e when I'm still asleep and not actively using the computer) and b) I'd like to know if there's any way to allow this program to run as admin so it doesn't keep interrupting me

You should be able to disable it in the LSC dashboard. I will download LSC and locate it for you.
*edit* Launch LSC>Dashboard View>Edit>Drag "Updates" or any unneeded item to the right "Events not monitored" section to disable.

Thanks for your response and apologies for the delay coming back (didn't get a notification email for some reason)
Unfortunately that hasn't cured the problem, I still get it try and run whenever I log back in, either after having the laptop in sleep, hibernate or even a complete restart

I just purchased an x230 and the Lenovo Solution Center also runs as a scheduled task at every login. You can disable it by:
You should see a task called Lenovo Solution Center (you may have to expand the Name column). Right click it and select Disable. Once that's done the task will no longer run at each login.
Even worse, once you log in the task runs every 12 hours so even if you don't log out it still reappears.

Thanks for that.
I've set it to just run on Monday mornings at a set time (I don't mind it checking for updates, it's the number of times it runs that's the main issue)

Ok, that's a solution... for that annoying popup. And I'll apply it.
But THE solution must be provided by Lenovo. They cannot expect the Thinkcentre being a corporate product when there is something that runs as logged in user but needs admin rights. ... Unless it be as useless that I can kill it forever.
Pitty I didn't discovered this before cloning and deploying :-(

PROVIDE A TURN-OFF BUTTON DANGIT !!!!
This is a bloody-well FIVE YEAR OLD thread and yet the Lenovo Solution Center STILL doesn't have a setting IN THE APP that lets a user EASILY DISABLE START-UP.
Mostly, Lenovo is much better than the other manufacturers about installing invasive bloat-ware without giving the end-user any choice in the matter. This app, however, is NOT WITHIN KEEPING of that otherwise good ethos. GET THIS THING OUT OF YOUR BUNDLE or SET IT UP TO BE EASY TO TURN OFF, please, because right now you're acting like HP, Dell, or Microsoft. YICK.

Which version of Lenovo Solution Center do you have installed? What OS are you running?
LSC has an entry in task scheduler>Lenovo folder>Lenovo Solution Center Launcher.
It launches at every logon and runs every 12 hours.
You could disable this task.
There is also the Scheduled launch of the Monthly LSC run.
You can turn this off if you wish.
Launch LSC, select hardware scan, below the Quick tests and select tests is a slider bar.
Slide this bar to the right to expose the scheduled scan option.
