Will Rescue and Recovery restore entire disk?

I have searched high and low for an answer to this question, but I can't find it. I use Rescue and Recovery to backup my notebook's disk. If I encounter a catastrophic disk failure, will Rescue and Recovery be able to restore my entire disk to a new drive, including the service partition? Will I have a fully-functional and bootable disk after a complete restore? (All of this assumes I restore using a Rescue and Recovery boot disk, which have I already made.)

Re: Will Rescue and Recovery restore entire disk?

yes, I made those recovery discs, too. The question I have, though, is whether or not the Rescue and Recovery restore will do that as part of a Rescue. I understand it will restore the Windows partition... I just wonder if that is all or if it will do the recovery partition, too.

Re: Will Rescue and Recovery restore entire disk?

Thank you for your reply. You mention "back to factory" state. I just want to make sure that you understand I am talking the backups that are made using Rescue and Recovery. I am backing up to a USB drive. If my hard disk crashes and I have to replace it with a new drive, just restoring from my last backup will recreate the rescue partition as well as the C: partition, complete with all of my files... essentially putting the disk back to the state it was at the time of my last backup. And also giving me the ability to boot into the recovery partition if I needed to. Is that what you are saying? What I am trying to avoid is doing a factory restore (to get the recovery partition and the factory-fresh C: partition) and then a RnR restore to get the C: partition back to the way it was. If I can do both in one step using the last RnR backup, that would be ideal. (Well, *never* having to do this is ideal... being able to do it without having to revert to factory state first is next best! Guiño )

Re: Will Rescue and Recovery restore entire disk?

Well, I decided I have a couple of hours on my hands and a fresh backup using both Rescue and Recovery (to test whether or not it backs up the recovery partition) and a Windows Vista "Complete PC Backup" (in case it fails).

The result:  yes, when restoring a recent backup, it will also restore the recovery partition.

I am very pleased. Emoticono feliz
