Re: QUENCH: Upgrade to Android 2.1 for non US users

This is just ridiculous.

Quench = Cliq XT, why it can't be upgraded? And this is not really a question: it CAN be upgraded!

You guys are making a lot of people very angry. A lot of people that tell others what phone to buy.

Did you do the math?

Best regards.

agree with the bans.. that the only way we´ll stop talking (mierda = merda) about motorola, jajaja

@everyone: our voice will not be heard here, i´m 100% secure about this. (it´s a fact), use your power as customer, don´t buy it, don´t recommend it, and tell your personal experience with Motorola (motochorros  we call them on argentina its very funny). that it´s my advice..

i don´t know if motorla do the maths but i´ve done it.

liars + corporation + misleading advertising + bad customer service + discrimination= [ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _]

figure it out yourself!!

SKA-P - Que corra la Voz!!  listen to that album!!

Re: QUENCH: Upgrade to Android 2.1 for non US users

Some opinions regarding this subject: I'm seeing over 16 thousand page views here, and am wondering if anyone at Motorola is calculating a potential consumer opinion backlash. How many other forums like this exist? And then there are blogs, review sites and just plain chatter.

Companies today can either evangelize customers into spontaneously supporting their brand, or can cause self-propagating trauma (on the Internet as well as offline). And you don't need an MBA to come to that conclusion.

People are not only abandoning Motorola products -- they are spreading the word as to the outcome of their brand experience. And in this uncertain economy, and in the aggressive mobility sector (at least for companies whose names do not contain the name of a fruit), retention is wiser than aquisition.

Motorola should be doing more to retain customers. It's tradition is it's most significant capital, and should make it more competitive.

My case, in particular, is that a Motorola specialist at the store where I purchased my phone made it clear there would be an upgrade. Very clear, in fact: at that point, I was already aware of the customer dissatisfaction situation. I purchased the product in good faith.

The other opinions expressed in this thread are right on. There is no plausible reason that impedes Motorola of delivering the Quench upgrade, especially considering they should be looking to bolster sales, create value and *just plain survive*.

As a result of this experience, no matter which phone I choose to use in the future, I now am part of a growing army that propagates a negative image of Motorola.

In fact, I'll be posting this message on my blog right now.

It's only fair that long-time customers, such as myself, make this as clear as possible to Motorola.

I also need wifi leap to conect at my company network, and use lotus mobile, but I couldn't find any solution without root. A developer made a program without root, but guess what, doesn't support android 1.5 . Without counting the many flash websites, and videos that don't run on this phone. And bluetooth that doesn't work.  So, what are Motorola solutions for these issues, and many more.

Like said @epinter

Why in the United States the MB501 works best with 2.1 and the rest of the world works best with 1.5?

I believe that you are missing the respect we as consumers and customers.

@Mark: see, we don't want to put pressure on you, but... if you ever get promoted... please, remember the nice guys politely asking for the Android upgrade...

@Marcelo

Thanks! Honestly, I feel bad that you won't be getting a tasty serving of creme and chocolatey goodness on your Quench phones. Admittedly, I wasn't there for the business decision. I don't imagine it was an easy one to make. But yes, you are all in my mind when these decisions are presented to Matt and I. Hopefully upgrades can occur largely across the board in the future.

@epinter

I don't have a technical explanation as none was provided to me as to why the Quench will not be upgraded to Android 2.1.

I own a Quench and I'm really not happy with what Motorola is doing to most non-US owners, too bad I got the Charm otherwise I wouldn't have considered getting it if it was now instead of a few weeks ago.
