Re: QUENCH: Upgrade to Android 2.1 for non US users

2010-08-23, 16:42 PM

Hello Mark,

I´m from Brazil, also, and I really hpe that the doccument without the Update planning for Latin America is wrong.

I´m facing a lot of problems with my Quench since I bought it. I just used it for 5 days since July 21. This is the 2nd time I need to send it to Tech Assist. in order to fix hardware problems.

Besides that, it would be very nice to upgrade QUench's android to 2.1 version, at least.

regards,

Sérgio

What is that? Motorola QUENCH upgrade for all regions, and LA is missing? HOW COULD?

Hey, you are talking with a growth market.

Mark,

please, give us some light here.

Thank you,

Lets put some pepper here.

I was researching over the internet about the Android Upgrade, and it seems that Sony and Samsung are making some upgrades on their phones.

So, MOTOROLA, Where are you?!

That's really a nice question for Motorola to answer... why everyone is getting Android 2.1 even with their weakest phones, and we keep the high-end, top notch Android 1.5... Guys, let's face it: there must be something we are missing in this release that makes it so special for the Motorola guys...

Still, I'd prefer to go with Android 2.1... 2.2.... we're starting even to see the 3.0 talk around....but, hey, why would we want more than 1.5?

What annoying group of customers we are...

Hello my brazilian friends, let's follow @motoFAIL_BR on twitter and make some noise: http://twitter.com/motoFAIL_BR/

We're just asking to receive the same treatment of the US customers.

Mark seems to be a nice guy and he is aways making his best to bring us some information, but every official info published by Motorola shows us that the US updates are only beeing delayed, besides, for non US users, it's becoming clear that we'll get no update and the best we'll have is to try our own luck installing hacked Click XT ROM's if the community release it.

Motorola just kicked Milestone user's asses today: https://supportforums.motorola.com/community/manager/softwareupgrades

Our Quench is out of the new list, but I'm feeling my ass kicked right now...

Anyway, I think I'll have my phone updated by a  hacked Cliq XT ROM sooner or later. After this, I would buy any chinese trash as a new smartphone instead of getting any new Motorola model.

I really like Android OS and I'm aways talking about this things. Now I have a new point for this conversations. I'll talk about how nice is Android OS and how bad is Motorola as a choice of Android smartphone.

I'm getting a 99 dolars tablet, a real garbage toy from this chinese sellers, and the Android version that comes with it is newer than the one installed in my Motorola phone.

You're right Ticiano.

let's compare 2 "very different" products :

1) Motorola Quench :

Price (here in Brazil)  : Around US$ 455,00  -  Android 1.5 and, may be, no updates

2)  Chinese Excalibur - 3G Android 2.1 - 3.2 Inch TouchScreen Cellphone

Site : http://www.chinavasion.com/product_info.php/s/awr60/pName/excalibur-3g-android-32-inch-touchscreen-cellphone/       ==> Yes, they ship to Brazil.

Price : Around US$ 340,00

How can I understand this ?

How can, a big company like Motorola, say that they, "may be", not update their products and, a Chinese company sell a cheaper cell phone with the Android 2.1 already installed. A friend here in Brazil has this Excalibur and I can say it works well

Please Motorla, We know you can do much better than this.

Please, again, Surprise Us (in a good way, of course).
