Re: QUENCH: Upgrade to Android 2.1 for non US users

@srspinho

As far as I begin to see, we can safely change the maybe in the first sentence to probably... and in a matter of time, to surely.

We know how chinese companies can be "competitive" with their products. And even if I already saw them fail really big, each time I ask myself: why don't give them a try?

All we want is a software update that allegedly brings benefits to users. I just can imagine how the rest of the guys (which owns another Motorola's phones in LA and Mexico - oh, and Milestone guys will have to join us in some mall to get frozen yogurt now ) feel about being dumped.

The strange point for me is the European updates that won't happen. Are just the US customers worth it, Motorola?

And, when I don't see Quench even listed... has anyone felt like complaining about a non-existant product? #MOTOFAIL #LAQUENCHISAGHOSTPHONE #QUENCHGUYSGETNOECLAIR #QUENCHGUYSGETNOFROYO

I am not 100% familiar with the legal stuff behind the scenes, but Android is OPEN SOURCE, like LINUX I guess, right?

So, what is the problem to have the upgrade launch to all?

If the problem is to translate the code to portuguese or else, please, leave a English copy in some where, so we can at least decide if we want to have the English version or not, because differently from some countries, we here in Brasil, we spoke more than our native language.

But any way, I really can't understand why is so difficult for a HUGE enterprise, which probably has a very skilled technical team, to make this upgrade.

What is the problem? The phone hardware will not support? LA phones has a worst hardware than other countries? What is the mystery? What Motorola is hiding from us?

If the problem is cost, I believe Motorola may have much more loss with a bad image in the market, than with this upgrade.

So Mark, please, ask to someone inside Motorola with the power to take decisions, to put a final decision on this. And we can close this forum, and stop with the blah blah blah.

Thank you,

Would you be surprised if the hardware was worse?

Well, I bought my Quench by my self, without any carriers discounts, and my phone came full of Tim propaganda and stuff. Maybe this is the reason we can't get the US update and install... It would wipe out Tim propaganda space from our screens.

And for me, as a TIM customer, it would be a bless. It's just stuff.

I´m a TIM customer too (now, I used to be a Claro customer but was not happy).

Now, seriously, MOTOROLA DOES NOT RESPECT THEIR CUSTOMERS... This is pretty clear to me now.

SO.... I will SELL my Quench and get me a new smartphone FROM A DECENT COMPANY.

MAYBE THE CHINESE CAN DO BETTER.

Thank you for nothing, Motorola!

@Ticiano,

Congrats for the post. That's the exact feelings we have about the treatment this company is giving to their customers.

And the unfollowing on twitter, the blocking... cowards are just cowards, man. Would you expect something different?

Anyway... I've been with my Quench for 20 days now... and I'm really happy with it, since it has been very useful for my daily tasks. The point is that it really could be even better. At least 0.7 better. Or 0.6, it'd be ok. Unfortunately, I don't see that coming. But I see myself going to look for a chinese 2.2 android counterpart, with their <irony>2.2 upgradable to 3.0 Android, a-b-g-n wifi, gps, 3G, 4G, 99G, 1 trillion megapixel cameras and integrated TV (so no novel will be lost anymore... )</irony>
