Re: Email, calendars, contacts

Removing and readding the Facebook account fixed the birthday issue for me as well.

I still do have a sync icon that won't shut off (check that, it does shut off after a reboot but comes back on within seconds).  I've tried airplane mode, turning the phone off and a battery pull.  I'm a little reluctant to do a factory reset just yet.  I want to keep playing with it to see if I can find a solution.  I do notice that the gmail app is very slow to pick up new emails (seems to take about 8 to 15 minutes).  However, if I search for a new email I can find it in the gmail app even though it is not showing up in the inbox anwhere.

Sadly there seems to be no way to remove and readd the gmail account without a factory reset.

Upon initial update, all my contact pictures were gone because they were from Facebook. I tried checking to see if picture source is still set to Facebook but can no longer even find the picture source option. I deleted my Facebook account from "My Accounts" and then added it back in again. Now my facebook contacts will not sync to my contacts even after restarting the phone. I checked the Contacts Display Options and Facebook is set to show all.

i also have 2 facebook icons, but when i click the bigger one nothing happens. I can only log into the smaller one. I think the smaller one is from facebook built into the phone and the bigger one is from downloading facebook from the android market.

I noticed with the update, now you can create a Group Contact. With the older version you could only send emails individually unless you downloaded a Group App from Market.

Very Nice feature!!!

For all of those having Corporate sync issues, I had the same problem. The fix for me was to renter the domain, username and password. Since then; mail, calendar and contacts for corporate now working properly!!

Hope this helps!

I have the FB birthday issue, but dont care for now. I may try the recommended solution later.

If you open the calendar, go to an event that was created in Google Calendars set to repeat every x, you click edit, it says "Change Only this event", "Change all events in the series", "Change this and all future events".   If you select "Change only this event"  ....  the changes are not synced to your Google Calendar and only appear in your droidx.   I can remember if this problem was in Froyo, but it was definitely in the leaked gingerbread builds like .595   because I had this same exact problem before I sbf'd back to stock and downloaded the OTA today.  Also, I haven't even selected the other options to see if the changes are synced with them, I only tried "Change only this event" (tried it several times, never syncs it)

Yahoo EMAIL Shortcuts were hosed after the upgrade. I had a Shortcut set in a couple of places - on my main tool bar (using LPP) and in my Car Dock.  When I clicked on either of them, an error popped up about the Application not being available, or something like that.  I removed the Shortcut and re-added it and it works fine now in both places.

Re: Email, calendars, contacts

Hi,

Not sure if this is new to the update but here's what I observed:   I had two contacts that consistently showed out of order.  I edited them and found the reason was the first character was a space.  I removed the space and saved, but the contact did not re-order.  Upon further investigation, I learned that there are (now?) two name fields to edit.  Scrolling down, I found a "Backup Assistant cont..." section with an additional name field.  I updated this field and saved.  After this, the contact appears in the appropriate sort order.

Regards,

BT

Re: Email, calendars, contacts

I noticed a strange issue when adding a new contact. I added the contact and was prompted to seelct the account that I wanted to associate it with. I selected my gmail account. After entering the information and saving the contact I cannot find them in my address book. However, when the contact calls me his name shows up. Is there somewhere other than the addressbook that I should be looking?
