Re: Exchange setup issue when no SSL required - Please read, test and provide feedback

2010-08-04, 14:15 PM

Just an update, I left Corporate Sync running over night and new mail was pushed to the device (no idea how long it took though).  However, there was never a new mail notification.  I don't think the notification issue can be fixed by server tweaks.  A device side fix is badly needed.

You are right, the notification issue is completely separate and will

require a client-side fix. It is coming.

What about the fix for not receiving any email? Could you please provide an

ETA?

I'm in the same place as you Matt V.  We're all here willing to help but I haven't seen any instructions or requests from Motorola.

Ansextra,

The upcoming client build will include a fix for the notification issue, for

the connection issue when SSL is not required or no certficates are

installed, for the issue whereby the domain ends with more than 3

characters, among many other things.

Francois,

That's great to hear, but seeing is believing and that brings us to our next issue:  Time.  We are quickly running up to our 30 day trial on Touchdown AND our 30 day return window with Verizon.  For a lot of us, that deadline is next week.  That leaves us with two rather undesirable options: 1) Buck up more money for Touchdown to make the phone do what it should have done out of the box on July 15th or 2) Return an otherwise great phone for one show stopping defect.  In some cases, the return option may be the only choice.

I'm sure you're not in any position to pass along release dates for either a 2.1 patch or a 2.2 release, but I hope you are communicating these concerns to whomever's responsibility it is to set dates for these types of things.

Davbak

Believe it or not, Motorola's senior exec team is aware and engaged in the

issues reported on the forum... So they know, trust me.

I know Matt and I have been saying this for a while now (boy, does it also

feel like years to you?), but relief is coming. We are close to finally

being able to make an announcement with dates.

Francois,

My issue is connecting with SSL.  Connection just doesn't happen.  Will that be included in this upcoming "fix" (whenever that may be)?

Can you provide:

1) Client software version (in Settings>About phone>the string under System

version)

2) The Server type (Exchange? Google? Other?) and version (along with

patch info if you have it)

3) The exact error message you are getting

1) Client software version 1.13,604.MB810.Verizon.en.US

2) Exchange Server 2003.  I do not have additional info nor can I contact the administrators.  We are a global company with well over 5000 employees and I do not have a way to contact them.

3) Error message is: Login to the account failed.  Please try again

Please keep in mind that I have no problem connecting with Touchdown, Roadsync or the old Droid email client.
