Voice call quality and performance issues and comments

2011-08-29, 20:26 PM

How do calls sound to you? How do you sound to the person on the other end? How is the dialer working, etc.?

Please do not PM me - if you have issues, search the forums for threads on your topic and post there, or start a new thread. Thanks!

Re: Voice call quality and performance issues and comments

I had one issue where I was on one call, another 2nd concurrent call came in, I hit Answer, and then I was left with nothing.  I had asked my first caller if I could call back, so she had hung up.  I called her back, the 2nd caller called again, I hit answer again, and nothing.  I hit "Switch calls" for grins and *then* I was on my new caller.  I haven't confirmed this, but I think that perhaps hitting "answer" on a 2nd incoming call does answer the call, but doesn't switch you over to it.

Overall, I'm very happy with this release so far.

I had a voice mail. I pulled the drop down menu and hit voice mail. Nothing happened so I did it again.

It finally dialed, but it took about a minute and a half before it dialed VM and it dialed it twice.

I'll have more input once I actually call someone (I'm more of a texter), but one thing that 'bugs' me (lol) about the Dialer is that it doesn't go right to the actual dialer tab by default. If I want to access my contacts, I can use the Contacts app.

I've had similar thoughts about this.  Now that they're really and truly the same app, I'm considering just using the phone app only and replacing the contacts app with something else in that prime real estate.

Everytime I answer a call it goes directly to speaker. My photots aren't showing up in the dialer.  Once I make and rec more calls I will let you know what else I find...

Not sure if this is a verizon issue, but i never had this issue before.

I missed an incoming call altogether. I was driving on the beltway no where near any dead zones.

My google voice indicator let me know that I received a new voicemail from my wife. This was odd, because I never heard my phone ring.

I checked my phone logs and there was no record of the incoming call.

I asked my wife if her call went straight to voicemail. She said the call did ring a few times, but went to voicemail quicker than normal.

The call quality seems to be better, I used to have to crank the volume all the way up to hear those I speak with. I called a few of my "regulars" and asked about my voice quality on their end of the line and got "I can hear you better, you used to drift in and out". The quality is going well so far, wonder what changed with the software. I do notice that the vocoder selection is no longer present, perhaps it is automatically managed now.

After a couple days use I would have to say no difference in call quality.  I do like the dialer and menus better, but no difference on call quality.  Did not really have any major issues before either.

This has been posted in other sections of the fedback, but I figured I'd put it in here.  Several times (every time?) that I've received a call, either while doing something else or with the phone "locked," I have not been able to answer the call immediately.  The call comes in, and the screen lock swipe gets "stuck" after the swipe, and the call gets missed.  This is defintiely a problem.  Also, I am not getting caller-id immediately, the call comes in and the screen stays black (if locked), and I can't answer the call because the swipe unlock doesn't appear.
