Re: Mobile Broadband (F3507g card) - slow internet

I have F3507g Ericsson 3G card in my SL300.

It was quite difficult to configue it, but finally I got it: I'm using it with Access Connections now, Mobile Broadband tab, Vodafone SIM-card inside. When I click on connect, connection will be successful, but the speed is incredible slow.

There is HSDPA coverage in this area, the average downloading speed with Vodafone's Huawei USB stick is around 200 kbyte/sec.

Since I've been using the net with this built-in 3G card, the maximum speed I experience is less than 1 kbyte/sec (!). Usually it's around 300-500 bytes/sec. I have tried it at other areas; the situation is the same.

What can be the reason?

Re: Mobile Broadband (F3507g card) - slow internet

Hello,

I just bought the same card for my sl400. I had the same problem when i tried to connect with lenovo's access connection. It connected successfully but the connection was very slow however when a i checked a site with command ping there was no lost package. The solution is download the vodafone's mobile connect software(not the lite version):

http://www.business.vodafone.com/site/bus/public/enuk/support/10_productsupport/laptop_connectivity/40_software/software/10_latest/p_pc.jsp

Install it then restart, wait till the lenovo's access connection software starts but don't connect with it. Then start the mobile connect and use that software for the connection.

regards, David

Mobile Broadband (F3507g card) - slow internet

Re: Difficulties with F3507g built-in mobile broadband

Finally we got the problem was with the Hungarian Vodafone service. For some reasons, Vodafone SIM cards do not work well with this F3507g card. When we tried it with T-Mobile SIM, it worked fine immediately, without any configuration.

Re: Mobile Broadband (F3507g card) - slow internet

I recently changed my machine to X301, but there is the same card inside.

I can tell you I meet the same problem with Vodafone SIM.

However, when I put T-mobile SIM card in, it's getting to work fine, at normal speed. It seemed to me there is some incompatibility issue between F3507g and Vodafone SIM (although, it's quite interesting, since this card is branded 'Vodafone'), but the fact is T-Mobile SIM is working fine.

Re: Mobile Broadband (F3507g card) - slow internet

hello,

this seems to be a good idea; I've downloaded and installed the VMC, but it shows no device. If I go to 'Manage Devices', I can see the Ericsson F3507g card, it is checked as 'Default', but it can't be checked as 'Active'. If I try to add new device, 'Built-in mobile data card', it is just searching for it, even the Voda SIM is inside, it doesn't show any result.

Did you meet such problem? How could I make the F3507g active in the main screen?

Re: Difficulties with F3507g built-in mobile broadband

Hi,

I have been having the same problem on two identical X301 thinkpads. Thanks to the suggestion on this post, I tried using the SIM O2 card from my iphone instead of the vodafone card and to my amazement it works perfectly - the speed that I expected, and with no changes at all to the settings or software on the laptop. I am asking vodafone to supply new SIM cards which they have agreed to do.

I am in the UK

thanks

If you use the vodafone's mobile connect software instead of lenovo's software It's working fine.

Here is my speedtest result:

Re: Difficulties with F3507g built-in mobile broadband

Two questions for the last two posters - I have an X200 with the F3507g and have updated all the Lenovo drivers and the service is slow slow slow (I'm in the UK).

(for rogcoleman) 1. Has getting a new SIM card from vodafone worked? Which team did you speak to get that? (I'm just a single consumer)

(for olb) 2. The Vodafone mobile connect software doesn't list the F3507g as a supported device - version 9.3.6 - did you use it anyway, am I looking at the wrong vodafone software, etc?

thanks!
