Reverse a Smart Action (Turn off Apps)

2012-06-30, 18:40 PM

I have the Razr Maxx with ICS and use Smart Actions to turn on a few Apps when the Bluetooth connects to my car.  I have not been able to figure out how to make the reverse action happen...

When the Bluetooth disconnects from the car, I'd like it to turn off the Apps that I only want running when I drive.

What am I missing?

Thanks!

Jeff

The challenge appears to be finding a trigger. Smart Actions has no generic "NOT" modifier, so you can't use a trigger "when X is not true" - so you have to find out what condition changes to let you trigger a new rule.

But Smart Actions only has an option to launch apps - I don't see any way to shut down apps.

Thanks Alpha Dog.

I feel like this should be fairly simple.

The original trigger is when my phone connects by Bluetooth to my car.  It then turns on several apps.

The next trigger would be when it disconnects from the Bluetooth associated with my car.

When the car bluetooth connection ends, it would then turn off the apps that the original trigger turned on.

I understand - but remember Android really has no concept of turning off aplications. You leave them... some run in the background until the OS decides to kill them.  ICS doesn't even have a Moto installed task manager does it? So the concept of turning off an app really doesn't exist except deep in the OS. Smart Actions is duplicating user input so i don't know if it will ever end an app.

But yes, I too would like to trigger things when something disconnects or is not true. Like when GPS says I am not home.

Could you set a trigger to go to the home screen?  That would in essence "close" the application you had previuosly launched.
