SA is killing my battery!

2012-05-23, 22:39 PM

Smart Actions was pegging my CPU at over 80%!  My Razr Maxx was running at over 100 degrees and dying after 6 hours.  I hit 'Clear cache' on Smart Actions and that didn't help.  I then tried 'Clear data' and everything cooled down.  Today I've been on battery for 12 hours and I'm still at 40%.  I'm running Smart Actions 2.1.2.0.
I'll try turning on some of my rules back on tomorrow (they are still there, so I guess 'Clear data' doesn't really clear the data!) and see what happens...

I too have found Smart Actions to be a battery killer, which is quite ironic because I was running the Smart Actions "Battery Extender" with "Default" settings and it would drain my battery about 2x faster than if I wasn't running it at all. Phone usage not significantly different in the "Before/After" SA mode. Standard voice and data usage. Of note, all data (except SMS) going through WiFi, yet battery would be clobbered.

It appears there's an issue with cell tower ID's causing Smart Actions to get confused. This should happen only in rare circumstances, but we're still evaluating the topic. Obviously you guys have come across it. Thanks for your feedback to help identify this odd issue. We will have a fix and will update asap.

I just also hit 'Clear data' on my Smart Actions, battery has been short.

All the rules are now deleted so lets see if the battery life is better or worse.Smile

Hi All,

Just want everyone to know there's a SMARTACTIONS update found here:https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...artrules&hl=en

We believe this issue is fixed. The SMARTACTIONS team strives for high quality high value software. This was an especially tricky defect to root cause, If you're still seeing continued battery drain please comment. Here's the link to our team forum: http://www.motorola.com/forums/smartactions
