Smart Actions: Missed Call Setup

2012-02-11, 11:40 AM

Hello All,

I love my motorola droid 4, but I am having issues with the smart actions missed calls setup.

I created a rule from scratch that  basically states that if I have a missed call from any number, my phone will auto reply to the person (with my custom text message) and this applies to calls only not missed text.

Trigger (Missed call)

Action (Auto Reply text)

So what happens is when someone calls me and I miss the call, I see the smart action "missed call" go active, but it never sends the text message?

However when I created a sleep rule that states during night time, have the ringer on silent, and vip calling, and also autoreply with text stating im sleep but will call when I wake up.  The text works for this one??? Am I doing something wrong?

Trigger (Time frame night)

Action (Silent/Vibrate ringtone)

Action(VIP Calling)

Action(Autoreply Text)

I checked for conflicting rules, and none of them are conflicting so what could be causing the missed call smart action not to work?

Thanks for the help!!

My first suggestion is you delete the current established rule and then do a forced reset on your phone by concurrently depressing the power on button and the down volume button.  This is a non-destructive reset.  After that, I recommend you create an identical rule and test it for correct function.  Please post your results to the forum.   ---  Dan

Can you walk me through how you're setting this up? (Without driving yourself crazy? Cool)

Ok so basically what I am doing is I click on the smart actions app, and then I click on the plus arrow to create a new rule from scratch.

I then chose from the triggers list that I want the missed calls trigger, once I click on it, it brings up options for missed calls in which I select All incoming calls, and the number of missed calls as 1, then I save the trigger.

Next for the action I chose auto reply text, I then put in the message I want and for respond to missed I chose calls only, and the from section is set for all numbers, then I save it.

Then when I actually try to call the phone to see if it works, the rule turns on and becomes active, but it never sends the message.

Not sure why it doesn't work, as it does work if I put the auto reply text on a different trigger like sleep.

Thanks for your help

The Auto Reply Text only works with triggers which are active for a period of time. Those include most triggers including: location, time-based, display off, calendar events, etc. The Missed Call trigger (which is somewhat unique) is active only for a moment, which is why it doesn't work.

I have created a smart action based on when I am home, and this works off of wi-fi.  Is there a way to setup a smart action to turn off wi-fi when I am not at that location so it will stop searching for a wi-fi signal???

"Is there a way to setup a smart action to turn off wi-fi when I am not at that location "

This would require a "NOT" condition which Smart Actions currently doesn't support.

For turning off wifi I set up a rule that if the " work" timeframe was active wifi is turned off as I have no wifi in the office and that works
