Smart Actions: Suggestion to Place Manual SA on home screen

2011-11-15, 17:53 PM

Create a link to a manual smart action so it could be placed on a home screen without having to open the smart actions app and then clicking on a manual action

Or I was thinking there should be a Smart Actions widget that would enable you to manually enable/disable actions and see which actions are active.

You can put a Smart Actions icon/shortcut on the desktop but I think I get it -- you want to be more "inside" the Smart Actions funtion. I'll pass it on - thanks.

Please do not PM me - if you have issues, search the forums for threads on your topic and post there, or start a new thread. Thanks!

Thanks Matt.  I realize you can put a shortcut on the desktop(Home screen) for the app.  I think you understand I really was looking for a link to a manual rule.

Thanks for the quick reply.

It would also be nice for it to pull from your calendar/agenda. It could trigger on an event that has been marked as "Busy" and then the action could be set the phone to vibrate, etc.

^ That's a great suggestion. Also, as I posted in another thread, the "Sound" action should bring up ability to edit all volume levels, just like on the Sound Settings menu, not just the ringer volume.

So far, I really love Smart Actions and am hoping that the software development team is looking at expanding functionality of this app with some of the great suggestions that have been made in these forums.

If I had one wish, it would be that Smart Actions used your 3G/4G data connection and GPS to determine location. There are a number of places I could really use Smart Actions, but Wi-Fi is not available.

For example, I would like to be able to create a Smart Action that automatically silences my phone when I'm at the courthouse. Unfortunately, I can't tap the Wi-Fi network there - it's for courthouse employees only (and that doesn't include private practice attorneys).

Maybe I'm not knowledgeable enough on this, but is there a reason it doesn't (or can't) do this?

It would be great if Smart Actions would remember where you are when the location trigger is used.  Embarrasing when you go into a room with no wifi (which disables your smart action) and the phone rings when the smart action rule should kee the phone silent then go back to an area of the building where wifi reception is good and the rule automatically re-enables

Seems like the phone should remember if I arrived at 123 Main St, lost wifi signal because of a dead spot in the bldg,  but didn't leave the vicinity, the rule shoudl still be active.

Would be a lot better if I could trust the smart actions.

I dont know how you would deal with going in and out of wifi dead spots in a building or when your location  trigger is set for a location without wifi.

So far, I love my Droid RAZR.

Thanks

How about a trigger when connected to the car navigation dock? I would like it to turn my bluetooth on when connected to my car dock.
