5 Bios Updates in as many months...

...is unnecessary, unsolicited and unappreciated.  Stop it. Now.

Re: 5 Bios Updates in as many months...

What is your machine type/model and OS?

Are these BIOS updates being offered by Lenovo Vantage app or Lenovo System Update?

I suspect a issue with the System Update catalog and it is offering the SAME BIOS update over and over.

Re: 5 Bios Updates in as many months...

ThinkPad P51/Win10. I can't tell how they come in, but I have no choice, and certainly no notification that they are available or even necessary. They just happen. I suspect you are correct: they are probably the same update. But there is no indication they fail and therefore need to be resent.

I guess I'm relieved to see so many posts like mine and the indication, at least, is they are not malicious. As a contractor to my client, I certainly do not want to be the source of a company-wide infection.

Re: 5 Bios Updates in as many months...

Check your start button for Lenovo system update.

Launch it and select Schedule Updates.

Turn this feature off.

Re: 5 Bios Updates in as many months...

That's the first thing I looked at 5 months ago. Turned it off. Now it is back on. Do not know how that happens. I feel stupid; I should have looked at that. Thanks for the help.

Re: 5 Bios Updates in as many months...

Hello,

Here is the changelog for the ThinkPad P51 BIOS:  https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/n1uur19w.txt

Out of the last five updates, the last four provided security updates from Intel, while the fifth last one updated some of its docked networking features.

Regards,
