Re: BIOS updates for Meltdown and Spectre

Hi,

Page https://support.lenovo.com/pt/en/solutions/len-18282 was updated and for my Thinkpad T430 it now says: "Update withdrawn by Intel; Target TBD"

What exactly does this mean? Thanks

Y900RE Razer Edition Spectre microcode update for Skylake 6700K

2018-02-10, 3:27 AM

Intel has distributed new CPU microcode to hardware companies to protect consumers from the Spectre Flaw. This latest update is only for mobile Skylake and mainstream desktop Skylake chips.

Understand that Lenovo has put up a security advisory website but Y900RE Razer Edition isnt listed as one of the model that Lenovo working on to receive the BIOS update. I am appealing to Lenovo to include Y900RE. It is using intel skylake 6700K.

Re: BIOS updates for Meltdown and Spectre

2018-04-06, 20:37 PM

Hello,

I'm owner of an S30 Type 0569 with an E5-1620 processor.

In the German c't online news ticker there was a note about the "microcode revision guidance - april 2 2018" (microcode-update-guidance.pdf).

There you can find

So I wonder, if there is a chance to get an firmware upgrade for my S30.

In the  Thinkstation section of len-18282 (len-18282#thinkstation) there seems to be only the newer S30 noted....

Is there any other place aside from this forum, where a request for support would be heard?

Regards,

Michael

Hi, I've had the Ideapad 100-151BD for a few years now, obviously out of warranty etc. but I'm still uncertain via searching whether this unit will have an update for Spectre? I should note, this unit is Meltdown safe .Thanks all.

Re: BIOS updates for Meltdown and Spectre

The support pages, and updates in the list confuses me:  https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/len-18282

I have both the Ideapad V110-15ISK and Ideapad 110-15ISK.

They both have the same cpu, but only one has a bios update available.  Why?

Can someone explain this?

More details:

Lenovo Ideapad 110-15ISK
80UD00M3US
Intel Core i3-6100U
http://www.microcenter.com/product/478947/ideapad_110-15isk_156_laptop_computer_-_black

bios update? NO
https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/100-series/110-15isk/80ud/80ud00m3us/downloads?linkTrack=Caps%3ABody_SearchProduct&searchType=5&keyWordSearch=80UD00M3US
--------

Lenovo Ideapad V110-15ISK
80TL008SUS
Intel Core i3-6100U
http://www.microcenter.com/product/476554/ideapad_v110-15isk_156_laptop_computer_-_black

bios update? YES
https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-v-series-laptops/v110-15isk/80tl/80tl008sus/downloads

Both purchased from Micro Center within the last year.  This makes no sense to me.

I have several Lenovo notebooks, desktops and more from Dell and HP, as well as a couple of self built servers. I use both intel and AMD chips, and have been testing them for "holes" in security. So far, as long as they are behind my firewall, they are not affected by the bugs. When DMZ'd they show up for scepter and meltdown (intel) and only meltdown on my older AMD chips.

Just my two cents.

Thanks

Without jumping into conclusion (on my part) would a test between the specified sample but with an added filter for patched and non patched CPU as a return yield a result that is perhaps similar or not but a maybe a trend would emerge if combined?
