Problem with the initial login sreen

2018-01-27, 13:37 PM

Hi everybody,

for some time my laptop is slow to open the login screen, where I have to put my password. After the login it also always show that caps lock is disabled. I recently found a malware in the laptop that exploited the laptop to mine Bitcoin, but I don't know if that could be the problem, since I deleted the virus and the problem is still here, even if the laptop is way faster. What can I do to solve the problem?

Thank you for your reply.

I have a Thinkpad T450, running with Windows 10 pro. Intel Core i5-5200U processor, 64 bit.

I've got the problem since some time, but I don't recall it starting after any specific update. I always keep the laptop updated and I recently performed defrag, anvirus scan with Avira (which detected the Bitcoin malware and another virus, which I deleted) and Ccleaner.

Hi UndeadRacer_85,

This does not seem to be a model specific problem, so I am going to move this to the Security & Malware discussion forum.
Just so we don't waste time by repeating instructions:
1. Can you please tell us what steps you took to clean the "virus"?
2. Did Avira save a log so we know exactly what was cleaned?
3. Do you have additional security software installed along with Avira?

1. I ran a full scan of the computer, it found two virus, I put them in quarantine and then I simply deleted them

2. Since I deleted the virus, I don't know where I can find the detail of the virus deleted. I just remember one was a bitcoin mining malware. I didn't pay much attention to the other, the computer seemed by far faster after I deleted them though.

3. I simply have Ccleaner and Wise registry cleaner.
