R52 won't stay powered up (couple of seconds) after malware removal

R52 was hung up on a 'Malware' prompt and wouldn't do anything else.  Used SpyHunter4 from CD which removed it, but now try to power on and it drops again in a couple seconds.  Laptop is not on-site, but tried the ' push power ten times, removing only the battery and adapter... no joy... 'not even sure now that it would repond to recovery disks... help?

do you have the recovery partition intact? press the blue IBM button on the keyboard at the initial bootup of the laptop, does it take you to the recovery partition?

Thanks for the suggestion...as far as I know, the recovery partition is intact, but do you mean depress the 'blue' button AS you push power-on...because the 'couple of seconds' I refer to, is how long it takes for power to drop again?

Have you contacted SpyHunter Support to ask why their product removed malware and left your system in that condition?  By the way, do you recall exactly what type of malware it was that was removed?

Re: R52 won't stay powered up (couple of seconds) after malware removal

That's a good idea ;-) ... but, even if I get the recovery on CD, I still have to keep the darn thing powered-on longer than a couple seconds... still looking, my friend....

As far as the type of malware, I was not present at the time.  I bought this laptop for a 'friend' some miles away.  It was something that AVG couldn't find, and there was so much 'joy' when the SpyHunter CD I sent, found if, the 'fix' button got pushed right away.... then came the sad news that it wouldn't power up.

okay what if you power on the system with the battery removed? did you drop or spilled any liquid on the laptop before this problem occurred?
