Did it. Basically you need to replace old microcode with new in $0AH0000.FL2, then recalculate checksum (you can do it just by rebuilding a section in UEFI Tool and saving image).

My T410 is still working very nicely and I'd like to delay getting a new computer until perhaps 2019. I've been monitoring the status of Spectre and Meltdown updates on this page:
and I don't see that the T410 is included.
My T410 has the Core i5 540M (Arrandale) 2.53 GHz. As of 2/2018 I read that the Spectre patches from Intel for this processor were in pre-beta and as of 4/2/2018, they are supposedly done.
So I'm wondering if Lenovo will be issuing a patch for the T410.

Here are links to Intel's microcode revision guidance that indicates that it is testing, or has completed, patches for the older Arrandale Core i5 540M processors such as that in the T410.
Links to Intel microcode revision guidance for Meltdown/Spectre issues.
One odd thing is that the April guidance lists the Arrandale Core i5 540M patch as in production, but then the June guidance shows it in Beta. But in either case, it looks like Intel is committed to patching the processor. Will Lenovo be issuing an update?
In case the links don't work, I've attached an image showing the pertinent sections.

Here is a link to Intel's Microcode Update Guidance as of 08/08/2018:
It shows that Intel patches are tested and complete for some of the older processors such as those in my still-nicely-functioning T410 (CPUID: 20652). Will Lenovo be providing an update for the T410?

The ThinkPad T410 has reached End of Life status, so any updates for it would be listed at https://download.lenovo.com/eol/index.html.
