n580 will not boot after Malware removed

2013-05-04, 18:08 PM

My son's Lenovo N580 laptop got the FBI virus.  I booted from a CD and ran MalwareBytes which removed the trojan virus.  However, the laptop will not boot into Windows 8.  The computer boots into the Win 8 profile log-on screen.  It has only 1 profile account with administrative privileges.  It accepts the user password. As the laptop attempts to continue the boot process, I get an error message saying that the bvtl.dat file could not be found.  After clicking on the OK button, the screen goes black and the hard drive activity light flashes.  I have waited up to 30 minutes to see if the hard drive would find or rebuild the file, but nothing.  From what I can tell the file named ltvb.bat file tries to run the bvtl.dat file but cannot find it.  Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Hi CM99,

I'm sorry that I did not see your post sooner. Do you still need help with this?
