IBM System x3650 server. PCI Orange LED

Hi.
We have an IBM System x3650 server. It has an orange LED on the front indicating problems with PCI.

We had this problem 3 months ago and we updated the firmware levels. The led disappeared momentarily but recently it has reappeared.

 

Sometimes we restart the server, it is removed but it reappears. We take out a DSA but it does not give more details.

 

This does not affect anything but it is annoying.

 

Yesterday we turned them off, we removed all the components, but the alert continues.

 

Even if we turn it on without PCI cards, it still marks the same warning, I do not know what to do anymore.

Have you already tried an AC power cycling?  (I mean removing all AC power cables from the system, then reattaching them.)  If you've already tried that, it's strange DSA has no log entry indicating the PCI error, and system board may be defective. The best way is calling service, but if it's 7979 or other old systems, it may already have reached end of service.

Hello have you gone into the Configuration/Setup Utility program to check the BMC System Event Log for error?

 

  1. Turn on the server.
  2. When the prompt Press F1 for Configuration/Setup appears, press F1. If you have set both a power-on password and an administrator password, you must type the administrator password to view the error logs.
  3. Use one of the following procedures:
    • Select Advanced Setup -> Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) Setting -> BMC System Event Log .

      If there are errors present I would suggest to troubleshoot them.  But even if you do not see anything there you can try to clear the logs at this point. 

       

      • Select Clear BMC SEL .
      • To clear the system event/error log, if one is present, or the POST error log, select Event/Error Logs , and then select Post Error Log or System Event/Error Log . When any log entry is displayed, press Enter (Clear xxxx log is highlighted on each entry page, where xxxx is the name of the log that you are viewing).

The errors in DSA are:

 

The system has experienced a failure. Check the diagnostic panel LEDs for more information.

 

Ensure the latch for PCI slot 2 has been closed.

 

After clear the system event/error log.

 

The PCI network card works correctly. But the Led Orange continues.
