Hi Thomas

As cchen mentioned, if the Administrator password forgotten, you may have to replace the system board.

You can find more information about security and password in the Lenovo System x3550 M4 Installation and Service Guide.

Hello  Geordimuppet

thank for answering.

I did try the solution with the x3550 m4 server that has the Administrator password

OS : winserver2008 R2

onecli : 3.0.1

imm ip : 192.168.1.93 ( aquired by DHCP and i can ping this ip from the server)

imm user : USERID

imm password : PASSW0RD

i typed the following command :

  onecli.exe config set IMM.UefiAdminPassword --bmc USERID:PASSW0RD@192.168.1.93

the ouput :

Lenovo XClarity Essentials OneCLI lxce_onecli01h-3.0.1
(C) Lenovo 2013-2020 All Rights Reserved

OneCLI License Agreement and OneCLI Legal Information can be found at the following location:
    "C:\onecli\Lic"

Checking Certificate [  1%][>                                                                     ] Checking Certificate [  1%][                                                                      ] [1s]Certificate check finished [100%][===========================================================>]

This is an older system and supported with 1.x version of the XClarity Essentials ASU tool
Translated ASU Command=set IMM.UefiAdminPassword "ABC123456" --host 192.168.1.93 --user USERID --password ******
You are running on an older system. Please make sure ASU_PATH is set correctly to the executable binary of ASU in global.config

Do you know which error that i have  made ?

Thomas

Hi Thomas

May I ask do you want to reset UEFI or IMM password using OneCLI? Do you want to modify Administrator password or reset password to default?

Hi Sir,

Onecli doesn't support System x 3550 M4, that's the reason why you got the error message.

The following information is about the Administrator password forgotten, you may have to replace the system board.

If an administrator password is set, you must type the administrator password for access to the full Setup utility menu. You can use any combination of 6 to 20 printable ASCII characters for the password.

Attention: If you set an administrator password and then forget it, there is no way to change, override, or remove it. You must replace the system board.

Hi Thomas

Since you don't have the administrator password to log in, you can reset IMM to default in the UEFI setup page as following.

UEFI -> System Setting -> Integrated Management Module -> Reset IMM to Defaults

The default IMM log in ID/PW is USERID/PASSW0RD.

Dannyhsueh

I do have the IMM id and password : USERID and PASSW0RD.

I have not the bios administrator password.

I tried to update the bios firmware.

the update failed., whether via IMM or UXPI.

and i do think that bios parameter prevent the update.

found out that the bios is password locked.

so i will have to change the server.

thank for your help.
