IMM missing certificate - no HTTPS access

2021-02-18, 5:10 AM

Hello!

I have an X3850 X5 where I cannot access the IMM from a browser (https). I have enabled the HTTPS server using the workaround described in this article:

https://support.lenovo.com/dk/en/solutions/ht504331-user-cannot-log-in-to-imm-web-with-firefox-52-and-later-versions-ibm-system-x

But I still cannot access the configuration due to a lack of a certificate.

Here is a trace from a telnet session to the IMM:

----

$ telnet the.imm.ip

system>ssl
-server e off
-client e off
-SSL IBM Systems Director CSR key status:  Private Key and Cert/CSR not available.
-SSL Server CSR key status:  Private Key and Cert/CSR not available.
-SSL Client LDAP key status: Private Key and Cert/CSR not available.

system>ssl -se on
SSL Server cannot be enabled, as certificate is not installed.

----

My problem is that the server certificate is 'off' (on my other working IMM it is 'on') and I cannot set it to on without getting the error shown above.

How do I add a certificate to this IMM when web interface is not working?

It seems like I can only install a certificate from the Web UI but I cannot access the Web UI because of the missing certificate. This is kind of a 'Chicken or the egg' dilemma.

Best regards,

Hello.

Can you try to use ASU comman for creating self-signed certificate on IMM?

https://toolscenter.lenovofiles.com/help/index.jsp?topic=%2Fasu_lenovo%2Fsample_cmds_mancerts.html

to generate certificate via ASU, create xml file which contain required information.

Thank you.
