Hi Paul Lee.

Current BoMC have flash primary bank uEFI/IMM only.

For Systemx M5, system have auto promote function. System check status and several week later after the firmware update, backup bank will promote to same version if system is running table.

If you would like to update backup bank firmware by manual, we have 2 way.

- Update uEFI and IMM2 backup bank firmware from IMM2 GUI. below are example menu when update firmware action from IMM2 GUI.

- Update firmware via OneCLI command with --backup option. Please see OneCLI user's guide P75 "-flash" and optional command "--backup"

Thank you.

Hi, Paul Lee.

This is not an issue because BoMC image structure between IBM Systemx and Lenovo Thinksystem/Systemx are different. And also update tools are different.

After boot BoMC OS and enter command line,  move to /tmp/lxce_ux/command/onecli directly.

Then run onecli command tool for update.

If you just would like to compare current firmware and BoMC Media version, run below.

./onecli update compare --dir /run/initramfs/live

if you would like to update detected firmware, run below command.

./onecli update flash --dir /run/initramfs/live

Below output are example that a part of running command. (update uEFI ,RAID controller and Broadcom NIC FW)

But basically, recommend to use GUI update. on another thread you see GUI issue on M4 server. If same GUI issue found with M5 server too, this is not an our server side issue but may caused by customer's KVM environment / setting . suggest to check it.

Please kindly understand this is my env results and also suggest to check onecli user's guide to understand /what command means.

Thank you.
