USB ServerGuide Fails

2018-04-27, 21:00 PM

Our X3250 M6 needs to boot to ServerGuide from a USB device. While it seems straight forward enough it turns out Lenovo doesn't have a practical solution for that. I just tried a Rufus-GPT for UEFI jump drive and had no success. I have tried ServerGuide 10.5 and 10.6 and carefully set up the BIOS boot configuration. Nothing works. There doesn't seem to be any recent comments about this problem. Has everyone just given up and added a ROM drive to their servers? I can't believe Lenovo doesn't have a practical solution for thier servers. I can't even get to ServerGuide.

You can use Lenovo XClarity Essentials Bootable Media Creator to create bootable media that is suitable for applying firmware updates, running preboot diagnostics, and deploying operating systems on supported ThinkSystem, System x, and BladeCenter systems.
